Look at Microsoft's Milo presentation again. You will easily see it was presented in a way to deceive.
Considering efforts like Eyepet are already reality, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else would get there faster than Microsoft will.

I really enjoy sitting down and relaxing when I play video games. Although there is potential for motion to improve RTS on consoles, there really is very little else they can do that interests me. I can't imagine a day when my pretend "air" steering wheel provides even remotely the same satisfaction that my Logitech wheel provides me. |
Amen! I enjoy many games on my Wii, but I'm starting to realize I may be too lazy to enjoy Wii Motion Plus. As awesome as I think Tiger Woods, EA Tennis, etc. look, I'm pretty sure that during the times I play games the most (when everyone else has gone to bed), I won't feel like standing in the middle of my living room. I'll want to sit and relax. If I wanted to exercise...I'd excercise.
EDIT: I'd like to clarify that I like motion controls if I can sit down to use them (Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Mario Kart, etc.). I don't like any game that makes me stand whether it's motion control or not.
Keep this in mind when reading what I type...
I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.
What do those two analog pedals (i.e. same functionality as a pair of triggers on a PS360 controller) have to do with the balance board?

It's a very similar idea, you had to balance on the board to ski or surf.
"Due to similarities in design and function, the Wii Balance Board,[1] a peripheral for Nintendo's Wii video game console, has been compared to the Joyboard."
It worked different than you say, basically it supported left to right and forward and backwards movement (and thus diagonal as well like a joystick).
The original Amiga team sometimes used it to Meditate (and balance on it) during breaks while designing the Amiga computer.

Oh, so it's more like a D-pad controlled with the feet... still nothing to do with the balance board (even if it looks the same).

@MikeB: If it's not pressure-sensitive (i.e. analog), it's not a balance board.
Unless by balance board you mean something you can balance on. Then a bed is also a balance board.
