Why would it ever be too early to show something you are working on anyway?
Look at Microsoft's Milo presentation again. You will easily see it was presented in a way to deceive.
Considering efforts like Eyepet are already reality, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else would get there faster than Microsoft will.
