Forums - Sony - Where would the Sony fanbase head if Sony dropped out?

Oh no, Sony diaspora (sp?)!

I would go to China to support the Chinese Men's National Basketball Team, cheering on Yao Ming as he tries to lead the Chinese to a Gold Medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in my Philadelphia 76ers warm up gear. My dreams would be shattered once again, seeing the thing I have been holding onto so dearly lose to Microsoft and the Lebron James High Hoops Scottie Pippen Dream Team.

People you should just answer the damn question.

Foot in the other boot, if it was Microsoft that quit gaming I would likely go to Sony or a new competitor.

I think a lot of sega fans moved onto the Xbox as they didn't feel Microsoft burned them, not as much as Sony anyway ... haha

Look at the Sega fanboys for a good idea.

Either:

a) The company who replaces Sony (Microsoft's rival)
b) The console with the most Sony games.

Sony WILL drop out of th videogame market. It (as a VG hardware company) has lost all focus and more worryingly for PS3 followers the ability to fully support it's system. The company is in turmoil, the profits are non existant, the reputation is in tatters and on top of this their technology is becoming old fast. Their 10 year cycle for the PS3 will never get anywhere near to that or if it does it ill be lucky to sell 10 a week by then. To be blunt if things continue Sony will start selling any assets.

To answer your question PS3 owners would probably go to the other "eye candy" system ie the X360

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

As it stands now the vast majority of playstation fans would move over to the XBOX 360 , there's already a big crossover in the demographics.

However if another company was to secure the rights to Sony's I.P's (maybe E.A , Applie or Nintendo) then they'd definetley be the new home for a lot of Sony fans. Either way Microsoft would have a huge .

As tempting as it is, I will not make a bet with one of my bestest friends of VGC.

where u asked?... to there real lives i guess...

or if they stick into gaming, they will go to a system where gaming happens(either Nintendo or Microsoft or to new player in gaming industry or whichever they choose)

this is just a stupid question if you ask me...

but my guess sony will never drop out...

Nintendo loses for 2 consecutive generation(not counting handhelds) but they still don't dropped out

so for Sony to drop because of 1 generation... hmmm... it is just impossible...

in case for inFamous...it is a new ip, so what do you expect...

Why do people even say this?  Nintendo wasn't bleeding money for those 2 generations which is what this is all about.

I'm not sure why people are speculating about this.  They'll at the very least release a ps4.

Should MS fail then I would go back to the PC. PS3 is not enough for me at the moment...especially online...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
