Forums - Gaming - Where else, besides graphics should driving games be improved?

Shelby anything sounds cool with me. I can only hope to afford one one day.

What about fun factor?

I  think that is relevant to any game genre.  The questions, what specifically would increase the fun factor.  I would like to see a Google Maps driving game that lets you drive anywhere in a given country.  Hey Sony, you have Blu-Ray!  You have room for this!

Add red shells, bananas, fake item boxes, boost pads, stars and mushrooms.

yeah that would make Forza 3 so much better.

Well, apparently the original makers of Project Gotham/Metropolis Street Racing, Bizarre Creations, thinks this is what is needed:

That is Blur.

gt5 and forza are fun.

You want kiddie fun then play something else. Like burnout or mario kart.

*facepalm* Right, cause obviously anything that's not hyper-realistic can't be fun (this is coming from someone who loves sim racers).

OT: As others have said, physics is where there's still a lot of potential.  It's just going to require a lot of processing power, so it's one of the few things that can still benefit from more powerful consoles.  Aerodynamics, traction, etc. still have plenty of room to improve.

1967 Chevrolet Impala 427 SS 4 door version - that would make every racing game better. i would love to see a racing game with all great muscle cars and mopars from 50', 60' and 70' with classic rock from those years - that would be friggin sweet.

Add in an "add supercharger" function to all those muscle cars, where it actually affects the sound and feel of the engine...that would be awesome.

?

Are you agreeing with me?

I'm saying they are all fun in their own rights and we don't need to abandon a concept just because someone doesn't find it interesting. That would be like saying chick flicks would be better if they had more explosions and jokes. We don't need to cross over everything, but we can create new IPs and genres for that purpose, and leave the originals as they are.

I want a drift racing focused game with damage mechanics and an AI that will purposefully avoid collisions and race intelligently.

Essentially I want an Initial D game with damage.

Initial D:

Real drift racing:

Perfect Graphics so that nobody can say if its real or not. Then perfect physics. With parts of the cars getting older. The Damage should be like the Simulations which are done by the Car manufacturers. And the whole thing packed in a complete replicated Earth. So you can drive to every place on earth. Try to get to the Northpole with a Porsche Cayenne. With absolute realistic Environment with freezing DIESEL you could make Expeditions to South America, Africa for several months. And this in an extreme MMO Game so Millions of people would be on the same emulated Planet. With REAL Championships and organized Groups in every Country, on this fully simulated planet earth. Not only the Tracks but the whole environment would exist. this almost emulated Planet could be the main construct for a lot of games which actually happen there. This planet could be accessed by BILLIONS of people E.g if there is a War (game) somewhere around the world you could be able to drive with your car right in to the battle Zone. That would be the maximum for Racing Games.

To play games which take place somewhere else you could go to an Arcade and play them there. All this for a monthly fee of 50 Dollars no need to buy another games or new hardware in your whole life. A second existence. Just a fully simulated Planet Earth 2.

Maybe we will see a game like Test Drive Unlimited for the main countries with perfect Graphics and perfect Physics first. Of course a MMO with atleast 200000 people driving simultaneous. That would be the maximum for the next 2 decades. Then google will simulate the whole planet like Google Earth. And the term "Game" will change. First step into the Matrix :D

No, I was speaking sarcastically.  You used the term "kiddy" to suggest that arcade racers like Mario kart are somhow inferior, immature, or less fun.  That's just stupid.

In case you didn't notice, I'm pretty sure he was joking.
