I Agree M$ won hands down as far as sheer awesomeness goes. However Both sony and Nintendo had good shows as well but M$ had the sharper cleaner and more awesome conference.

Long Live SHIO!

You forgot to add "imo", obviously for many other sites their opinion was different.  I personally agree with this sites analysis but in fairness it could easily have been tied this year.  The other consideration in their decision may have been some of the big hitters Sony unveiled they did so last year, so weren't as huge this year, not saying this was the case but it could certainly swing a vote.

Who "won" E3?
Microsoft 1,533 28.53%

Nintendo 1,016 18.91%

Sony 2,221 41.33%

No clear winner 442 8.22%

VGChartz 162 3.01%

Total: 5,374

Haven`t gamespot always favored western gaming-industry? That`s the impression I got when they first sat down and played Wii at launch. I saw a video where the "main" crew couldn`t stop bashing the Wii.
It`s just so hard to take someone serious when I believe they are favoring something. Same goes with ign.

I think that sony won. That's my opinion.

Their motion controller combines a camera with a wand, has both facial and voice recognision. And it can be used for all types o games because (as they said) it has "buttons"

Now beyond this, sony just kept showing things that interested me. As a ps3 and a psp owner i was happily suprised with all the content shown.

For the 360s conference, I think it convinced me I should get alan wake. That game seems pretty intereting.

Can you post a link to the facial and voice recognition demos of the new Sony controller?  I watched that E3 presentation and they was nothing like that shown at all from Sony.

That's because their camera is 3 years old. Why would they explain it's features now ? Anyways thers some videos around that shows off the facial recognition and i found a quote about the voice recognition specifications.

"The PlayStation Eye features a built-in four-capsule[1] microphone array, with which the PlayStation 3 can employ[10] technologies for multi-directional voice location tracking, echo cancellation, and background noise suppression. This allows the peripheral to be used for speech recognition and audio chat in noisy environments without the use of a headset.[1] The PlayStation Eye microphone array operates with each channel processing 16-bit samples at a sampling rate of 48 kilohertz, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 90 decibels.[1]"

I found a quote about the facial recognition though: "Using facial recognition know-how, the Eye could track one or more faces, altering the on-screen image to great, simulated 3D effect. MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo has video of the tech in action, but one thing that might not be evident in the video is that it also can determine the direction in which you're looking."

From Kotaku in relation to headtracking with the ps eye.

Yeah, so you really don't know what "facial recognition" means then.  Being able to track where you head is is NOT facial recognition.  Being able to know who you are and read your expression is.

The fact you have a microphone on the device does not in any way mean the device has the ability to do voice recognition!  It means if the programmers wanted to use the mic and program speech recognition into their games they could, but they would have to make the tech for that.  Natal has the ability BUILT IN.  All developers have to do is access it.  All that stuff about echo cancellation and noise suppression is just marketing speak, every 20 dollar PC headset has that.

The PS Eye cannot do the things that Natal can do, not even close.  It doesn't have depth perception.  It doesn't have the software backend to calcuate full body motion in 3D.  It doesn't have a lot of what makes Natal special.  I wish people would stop trying to spread this misinformation.

another win for microsoft

i couldnt agree more
microsoft gave the best conference and i just cant wait for SC:C and Alan Wake
