Forums - Sales - Apple: 40 million iPhones and iPod Touches sold

I understand the initial decision to go with AT&T since they have one of the largest 3G networks..But they are not the largest, nor most affordable US carrier, which is hurting the iPhone, I think.

As it stands, AT&T costs no less than $150 for an unlimited plan with data, minutes, and messaging...That's outrageous. Sprint is $50 less, and Version is less as well.

I'd think that Apple could easily double or triple their sales if they switched to Sprint and/or Verizon.

Improved Battery Life

11:59 am $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB.
11:59 am Ships with iPhone OS 3.0 for $199.
11:58 am Most eco-friendly iPhone yet -- arsenic-free glass, BRF-free, mercury-free LCD, etc.
11:58 am Improved battery life. Now up to 9 hours of internet surfing, 10 hours of video, 30 hours of audio, 12 hours of 2g talk-time, 5 hours of 3g talk-time.

They desperately needed the improved battery life.  I always thought it was joke that the current ones barely last at all.  I was watching CNBC and they were also dissing the iPhone for lack of physical keyboard.  Not that I text nor will I ever buy a single Apple product.  At least they seemed to have fixed the shitty battery.  They should allow the current iPhone users to upgrade their batteries for cheap or exchange them for the new one for discount.  I heard they are trying to get it down to 100-150 in price but you probably have to do a bullshit contract extension in USA.  I use a cell only as a phone (I have one game on mine: Chessmaster).  I don't give a shit about texting, internet surfing, gaming, listening to music or anything like that.  Sure many people like an all in one device but if you lose that device you are screwed.  I'd rather have my mp3 player, my phone, and my handheld all seperate.  So if one breaks, gets stolen, or lost then I am not out of the others.

My wife has an iPhone for work. We have loaded some free games on it. The games are not of great quality. And they drain the battery (you have to recharge daily).

Also, I am amazed that anyone can read that screen. I have not figured out how to make the Internet bigger (when not using mobile sites) -- but that is another matter.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I'll give you some help :)

You put your two fingers and touch the screen then pull them apart from each other, that zooms you in.

You can zoom in on web pages by touching two fingers on the screen and spreading them apart. Other gestures can be seen here:

I haven't seen any hard numbers lately. In the past the iPhone/iPod Touch ratio has been about 60/40.

Congrats, Apple.

I agree that the battery life is way way way too short though, at least for the iPod Touch. My friend uses the iPod Touch while I'm on the computer, and he has to recharge the damn thing after playing for only an hour or two. This isn't just when he's playing games, but also when he's looking up random stuff online.

It's ridiculous. Maybe I have a defective unit or something.

Good news for Apple, hopefully better games soon.

I remember trying that for Mac a few years back. I bet it's kickass with an accerometer.
