Are you crazy, with Spiderman 4 coming out Sony would earn close to a billion dollars just from that movie. The movie industry is the only industry thats making Sony some money. If I were them I would not sell anything. Sony Ericcson could be sold, and turn the PSP into their main phone business.

There is some sense in this. Its definately a perspective worth considering anyway.

Sony DOES NOT have the financial resources to compete with nintendo or microsoft

i think selling its movie studios is a great idea to help with their money troubles.

ironic that 6 billion is the value of sony's movie studios, and it is also the same amount of $$$ the ps3 has wasted.

THEY may have to sell their movie studio to pay off their ps3 debt!!

Sony is a very large and respectable company.

It has the financial resources to compete, but a questionable business plan was executed this generation that was exacerbated by a falling global economy.

Sony's gaming division was also very overconfident at the start of the generation.

Sony may not be anywhere near as financially stable as Microsoft or Nintendo, but it has the resources to continue to compete in the gaming industry.

@jcp234: They only have the resources to compete in the gaming industry if:

a- The economy gets better; or
b- The rest of the company suffers for the sake of the gaming division.

c- They finally release a product which has positive margins which people want.

I think their competitors would not allow c to happen.

Na I disagree there's plenty other factors would could affect their success.
