Forums - Sales - The regular update of YOY YTD charts, sales and marketshare....

I don't really think these YoY charts prove much, to be honest. Last year the Wii had a killer few months with Kart, Brawl and Fit releaseing on consecutive months. This year it has a great second half.

The 360 will be up YoY until the anniversary of the price cut

Around the Network

I can see some big YOY changes coming up for the PS3. MGS4 and GT5P launches are coming up so that should put the YOY into the red even futher. The Xbox 360, err its hard to say really. I can't access the compare console graphs so its hard for me to judge.

Tease.

I think the charts are useful - but yes the industry is prone to big spikes and swings so of course they are only tracking a moving target.

However they do show what common sense would indicate - that in a poor economy the only console with a modest rise in base demand is the one that took a big price drop vs two that held firm.

Of course if GT5 does hit this year and drives consoles like gangbusters the percetages could change by the end of the year, and of course there's the new Halo, etc. - but that's the fun of an industry where single events can have major impact.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

2008 PS3 > 2009 360 > 2009 PS3 > 2008 360.

Just something interesting that I'd like to point out. Perhaps the PS3 price cut had more effect than that of the 360?

Of course, the recession comes into it, too. And GTAIV.
