Forums - Sony - So compared to other PS1 Final Fantasy's how does FFIX compare?

I'm thinking about buying FFIX for the first time and I would like to know how it compares to FFVII and FFVIII and FFX. I was always reluctant to buy it because Zidane looked like a dufus and from the way the characters are design the story seems like it would be more light-hearted and goofy compared to FFVII, FFVIII and FFX's more serious and mature storylines

It is an underrated piece of art . You will grow to love Vivi, Stiener,Garnet and even that tailed freak Zidane. Take my advice and play it

Answer? FF9 sucks. Get FF7 (or get another copy).

Dont listen to Vertigo. The style might not be to your liking at first as it wasnt mine (i prefer FFVII,VIII,X style as well) but it FFIX turned out to be the most fun FF i've played. Just try it, its a FF afterall, it wont be that bad at least.

Better than VII, SO much better than VIII; tied with 6 as my favorite FF ever. It's so good. Just give it a chance.

It also has perhaps the best overworld theme ever:

im the same i have FF8 in my amazon cart, FF7 is a bitch to find at reasonable price. i'd say go for it u never know until u try u just might enjoy it.
