seriously,...I watched and didnt even notice that the boy stands out

Around the Network

The boy feels incredibly out of place, both the background and the beast uses photo-realism aesthetic and the boy looks almost cell shaded. This is likely a deliberate art direction decision as I find it hard to believe that they'd show a placeholder MAIN CHARACTER in its first official unveiling. The effect is almost like the movie 'Roger Rabbit' (where the toons were real) in reverse. The toon (boy) is interacting with the real world (mythical beast + enviroment).

The art style is very unique due to this oddity, the contrast is so clear when you view the game it almost feel like a canvas interacting with a real person! (Again in reverse)

Considering the subtlety of past team ico games, I can't help but feel that this is significant and done with a clear purpose and will effect the overall plot.

So in conclusion: I don't think boy will be done up to match the aesthetic of the world + beast, but I think that there is a clear reason behind this that will be explained as we played the game.

Edit: then again I could be reading to deep into this and talking out of my ass :P

^ dude..obviously this was done purposely..I think its more to do with tradition than story device
