Forums - Nintendo - Voice-acting on the new Zelda game...

If they do do voice acting, they should do it in the common tongue of the game world (not necessarily Hylian, but not English, period) and have English text as subtitles... But I'm sure they won't bother with it...

I vote text. Voices in my own head > any professional

Haha, I love it!

I'd prefer it if the main characters stay mute.  I don't mind if less important characters speak their weird language though.  I don't think comparing Zelda to Mario is fair because Mario is supposed to be comical and the story isn't important at all.  Bad VA in Zelda would be really noticeable (also irritating) and, judging by the sound of dubbed anime, not hard to do.  I cringed when I heard Naruto speak English.  "Believe it!"  Plus, I'm a big anime fan so I'm used to reading subtitles.

And by the way, yes, I did get my idea from Super Mario Galaxy... In my opinion, it was a good idea there, it's a good idea here.

Voice acting yes. It's 2009 already, and some point Zelda is going to have voice acting (face it), might as well start now if the next game is supposed to be a new revolution in the franchise. Might as well bring up the franchise in all areas.

Orchestrated soundtrack too please.

I think voice acting is a must for the next Zelda. Text-only is ancient, and doesn't fit with a game with high production values.

Link should remain as silent as he ever was ofcourse.

Yeah as ancient as like...books, and wierd shit like that where you have to read to get information. Text is so f'ing outdated.

Yeah, because books are totally the same as videogames.

Reading is reading. Characters have a lot more charm when I'm voicing them in my head then when some stale, miscast voice acter is stuttering out the lines. Sorry if it taxes your brain so much to scan through a few lines of text. And who honestly listens to every single voiced-over line the whole way, instead of reading it, then skipping half the clip because you're already done reading?

Me :). Honestly.

Eh, Prime 3 did a good job keeping Samus mute while NPC's spoke and that was fine...but I don't care. Besides Reading is fundemental.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
