Forums - Gaming - Ghostbusters fans in Dallas,TX area, you want to read this

Just saw this over at GBFans:

An inflatible Stay-Puft and restored Ecto-1 have been confirmed to be at the June 15th Midnight release of the GBs game in Lewisville, TX gamestop store right near the Terminal Reality studios.

If you're in or near the area, BE HERE! This will be an event you don't want to miss!

There is also a very high chance that Ernie Hudson will be here signing autographs and posing for pictures, etc. Chances for this jumped from about 40% to 80%, and are increasing. Final word on his attendance should be in by the end this week.

Badass video game, Terminal Reality guys, an inflatible Stay-Puft, restored Ecto-1 from the first movie, and possibly Ernie Hudson.... what else could you ask for at a Ghostbusters event!?!

Ecto-1 will appear from 9PM to a little after midnight, so be sure to show up early if you want pictures with it, etc.

Updates as they come...

Thiago

If Ernie Hudson is there, I will probably slime my pants...

Around the Network

Is that the most epic midnight launch of all time? I think so...

If ernie Hudson does end up being there it just might be.

And sweet I can apparently post on my phone.

A few more details about anyone that might care:

  • Sadly it does not look like Ernie Hudson will be there.  There are rumblings of him being in Dallas area on Tuesday but nothing at all confirmed.
  • Ecto-1 is in fact confirmed (be there from about 9PM to 2AM)
  • There will be anywhere from 30-40 Terminal Reality guys there signing games, strategy guides, whatever, and talking about the game.
  • The Ghostbusters fans from Texas, Oklahoma, and Lousianna (along with random ones from other states) will be there in full Ghostbusters getup.
  • I believe there will be big screens to play the game on before midnight.
  • The Gamestop has more than 100 preorders and that's not counting the preorders that are coming in from six nearby Gamestops that will also be letting people pick up their preorders that night.
  • There will be other things there too.

All in all, it should be a good party and if you're near the Dallas area you should definately come down!

And just for fun, the IGN UK review (where it got an Editor's Choice award):

Closing Comments
This is where things get difficult then. Minus those Ghostbusters trimmings, Terminal Reality has crafted a blisteringly energetic, entertaining experience. It might lack variety on a basic level but it’s still engagingly solid, if not out-and-out spectacular. As a Ghostbusters game though, its pitch-perfect authenticity makes this a practically irresistible proposition for anyone old enough to remember shoving a shoe box on their back and chasing the cat around with the Hoover nozzle. So where does that leave us then? Easy – thoroughly non-committal. There’s enough here to entertain newcomers and diehards will likely to love it. Pick your camp and head .5 in either direction. Meanwhile, we’ll sit right in the middle - hey, there’s a Zuul in our fridge and we’re not afraid to use it.

IGN UK Ratings for Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PS3)
Rating Description
out of 10 click here for ratings guide
8.5 Presentation
A little rough around the edges but Terminal Reality has totally nailed the spirit of the iconic series, in large part due to the involvement of the original Ghostbusting team.
8.5 Graphics
Diverse environments look great, as do the beautifully-designed spectres. Tearing and stilted animation on the humans let the side down though.
8.0 Sound
Classic orchestrations from the original movie run through, although they're spread thinly, and its great to hear Murray et al back in action - despite occasionally flat lines.
8.0 Gameplay
Whichever way you spin in, ghost bustin' and Proton Packing is immensely entertaining. More variety would be appreciated but at least the multiplayer gives giggles.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
It's about ten hours from front to end but multiplayer and a bevy of collectibles extend its lifespan and fans will probably want to sit through again regardless.
8.5
Great

Also, here's the IGN review where they gave it an 8 (just so people don't think I'm trying to hide it :-p).I'm just not always a fan how he writes reviews.

One last bump!

Details haven't changed much since my last post but the festivities are starting tonight around 9-ish PM.

  • Going to be about 30-40 Terminal Reality guys to talk about the game, show it off, sign stuff, or answer whatever other questions they can
  • Going to be at least 20 guys from the Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisinna GB fan chapters in full getup hyping people up
  • They are going to have the game playable for people to mess around with before you can buy it.
  • Food by Applebee's I believe
  • Gaming and local press should be there
  • The original Ecto 1 will be there

It should be a good time!

Should also add it doesn't matter if you have the game preordered.  They should have extra copies of the game on hand (though no idea how many but there are also 6 other Gamestops coming to the event bringing their extras I believe) and even if you don't want the game, it will still be kickass seeing and having your picture taken with the Ecto-1.

No Ghostbusters fan should pass up to the see the original Ecto-1 and everyone should be a Ghostbusters fan.

Oh man I wish I was there ;_; I've got two copies reserved. But oh well I got my two shirts today :D

What I wouldn't give to be able to see the original Ecto-1...

Sadly, there's no chance of me getting out there at all, despite my whole family (except my mom) being Ghostbusters fans. Too much other stuff that is keeping funding away from fun trips. I'm jealous of anyone who can go to this, and if anyone from VGC is there, I want pics! I need moar Ghosbusters!

Just got back from the midnight release and it was *loads* of fun. We had over 200 pre-orders and we had an assembly line signing most of those (we got pretty efficient by the end ^^).

Ecto 1

Ecto 1 at night

Signature assembly line

Loads of people (I even see myself!)

There were already several game-pack replicas there!

The littlest GB fan!

More signing assembly line

The line to get the game signed went out the door and around the corner and wrapped around the building!
