What does it do? nobody will answer that question for me

Measuring the pulse?

This was a truly weird moment at Nintendo's E3 conferences. I don't remember them announcing a peripheral without games before, but that's really what they did here.

This is why I think the peripheral is going to fail. If Nintendo doesn't bundle it with desirable software, it'll never take off. Here's hoping they just didn't have the software ready to demo yet. Can you imagine the balance board without Wii Fit?

I think in this case, they must have some very clear ideas of what software they're going to make with this. It's such a specific, special-purpose peripheral that there wouldn't be a reason to develop it otherwise.

Having said that, I wouldn't bet on it taking off either.

dsister, I made an entire thread explaining how it works and what it could do for gameplay.. Nobody seemed interested at all.

Some of those run into the same problems we're addressing here, like how many games are not going to be using the nunchuck for any of it to matter? Any first or third person action/adventure/RPG, etc. title is going to need the analog for movement.

Also Nintendo is still going to need a dedicated and intriguing piece of software packed in to steer customers in it's direction. Every peripheral before it has had such a title and I don't believe any have fallen below 3.5 million.

It doesn't just take pulse.. It knows how oygenated your blood is and can actually tell you your bodies entire blood volume.. Check the link above

Again I repeat my post pulse blood whatthefuck ever ..it's stupid and only will do it at a doctors office if truly neccessary and even then don't want to do it.

I am starting to get to a point to just tell Nintendo..open a chain of health centers then to jab and poke and blance people on stick things into measure their whatever..in the mean time I just want to play games on my free time and I mean GAMES like Metroid or Zelda and such.

In just a couple of days, there's been tons of interesting possible game related applications discussed just on this board, so the potential for it to do more than just be used as a health device is obvious.

However, if the poeple who are lucky enough to get paid for the opporunity to design games come at this device with the same bias you do, then the potential will never be realized. Luckily, there's at least a couple of game developers out there still who instead of saying 'this is stupid' when something new is introducted says 'how can we use this to be awesome?'

Actually Nintendo only wanted to garantee that all the grandmas don't die playing wii-fit/wii-sports before buying a new Wii to all of their grandsons. Simple as that.

@Bong Lover: Suda51 already said that is interested and have ideas 'bout using it. =D
