The smell is awful and is pervasive. Someone can get drunk in one room but, unless they're practically swimming in alcohol, it won't spread to the rest of the house. The weed smell goes everywhere though and it gets into clothes, fabric, and more. Ugh.

So we should also ban regular smoking, camp fires, fireworks and farts?

DUIs concern me. I believe that there are more alcohol related car accidents because there are more places to consume alcohol outside the home. I also believe that there would be more weed/high related car accidents if there were more places to get high outside one's home.

Know what other smell is awful and persasive? Deoderant body sprays. I have to smell that shit every time I leave the house, but it's not illegal. I wish it were. Some body sprays stink so much more than weed ever could.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Society would be better off banning fast food than it would be banning marijuana. It causes way more harm to society. I'm not advocating banning fast food, I am just saying that the harm marijuana actually causes to society is completely overblown. And even if you consider it a gateway drug, it has become a gateway drug because we force people to do it in secret and buy it from questionable people because it is illegal.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Definately for it.

I don't think anyone on this planet has the right to tell nature what to grow. Since marijuana is illegal, we had better make oxygen illegal too since if you take multiple deep breaths, you will get a slight "high." And water too. Water can kill people, which marijuana can not. We better remove all water from the planet. And the sun... it releases enough radiation that we would all die without the magnetic field and the "o-zone" layer protecting us. Mabey we should blow it up?

Anyway, as I said, you can't regulate nature as much as people would like to try. We came from it, it didn't come from us. The main reason it is still illegal is because there is a massive potential market and no way to keep prices high. It's overpriced now, but if it were legalized, it would be growing along the side of the road making it near impossible to sell.

I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.

I don't think mariguanna should be legal or illegal. I think it should stay fictitious.

For

like most of you ahve said its less dangerous for the body then alcohol and offers similar results, either ban alcohol and mj or allow both but right now its a double standard that has to end.

As long as they regulate it like they do with alcohol. Driving high is as bad as driving drunk.

I know putting a legal age on it wouldn't stop minors from doing it but it would prevent some use of it.

I don't see it that different then alcohol. If it wasn't for pot, potheads would probably just be drunks instead.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

For. If alcohol is legal, it makes absolutely no sense for marijuana to be illegal. Alcohol is far more dangerous and causes much more socially detrimental behavior. I am like HappySqurriel, I want SMART drug laws. If it is going to be illegal, there needs to be a good REASON.

Pretty much this.

Plus, government(s) could shift resources away from fighting marijuana to something actually productive.
