ms and sony fnaboys would probably just call it another gimmic from Nintendo.

If Nintendo had shown Natal I doubt the MS fanboys would praised it.

@Yon
and I doubt Nintendo fanboys would be so skeptical about it working.
I mean come on guys, what's the point in a statement like that. fanboys suck on all sides, if Nintendo showed Natal some people would stop praising and others would start. Fanboys are fanboys, they're by definition illogical and biased.

Why is it safe to assume that? Is it safe to assume that Windows 7 is the solution to all of the Windows Vista issues people are having? Don't believe the hype. I'll believe in Natal when Microsoft delivers it in an open environment where everyone can try it.
Edit: On the original topic, I do think Nintendo would get tougher treatment, but that's because Nintendo is turning the industry upside-down. The video game media have invested so heavily in the old market that this is a serious threat to them (not that all of them understand it on that business level, but they do understand it on a "why do all these Wii games suck so bad but sell so well?" level).
As for the mainstream media, they need any sort of controversy they can find to sell their product so they love to show Microsoft and Sony declaring war on Nintendo.

If NATAL were on the Wii, I would be just as impressed. Much like I was when the Wii mote came out, I thought it was quite innovative at the time. I highlighted the portion where you contradicted yourself, I really don't think anybody (short of an idiot) can say that 3D, fullbody motion sensing , and voice recognition are as limiting, as having a controller in your hand that has no voice recognition, and only tracks your hand. Also, do a little reasearch on what an eyetoy is and how it works. The eyetoy is a joke compaired to NATAL. Now, I know I will probably have to spoon feed this to you guys a couple of times (much like I had to do in two other threads) but I'm patient, and you will learn eventually. I'm not sure what a platform game is, but I do know what a FPS is, so I can tell you how NATAL would work. First off, lets adress buttons, who needs em? Nobody who has NATAL, if you had to hit a button to jump, well now you actually jump. You want to reload your gun, act like you are reloading it. You want to switch weapons? Say so! You want to strafte right or left, just do it. you wanna crouchwalk, do it. you wanna fire? Either pretend to pull a trigger, or say fire (this one obviously is something that has no dead set solution right now) you wanna take cover behind that concrete barrier, crouch and say "cover" The possibilities are endless. Now, here is another little nugget, MS is planning to make Halo and COD playable with Natal. Putting a wand or any kind of controller with NATAL would defeat the ad campaign (you are the controller). MS is going to make sure all games for NATAL also can be played with the origional 360 controller. |
i guess ill start by admiting that NATAL is impressive technology (as i stated before) but it has way to many holes for me to be totally sold like you. i was just as skeptical about thw wii remote until i truely saw it in action. so here are my questions and doubts to be, as you so interestingly put it, "spoon fed to you".
how do you actually move? this is where a controller comes into play. you cant just jog or walk in place. people will get tired of that. also im sure people will get tired of saying "fire" over and over again. sure you can jump in a platformer by jumping in real life, but how do you indicate how far to jump(if you want a good example of a platformer, look up some of the mario games)? what about fighters like street fighter, how do you pull off all those complex combos? by just punching in different directions or jumping in a differnt way (i saw the demo vid at e3 and it looks like it could do boxing)? its things like this that keep me skeptical. you cant just elliminate a controller, you need to have something like it to do certain things. like move for example. all i see NATAL as is a casual eye toy with voice recognition.
iv also bolded something you obviosly didnt read or refudse to acknowledge after your own highlights.
iv stated what i think of NATAL more than once to you and you seem to be ignoring me. until MS shows me something like you have stated, it will be nothing more to me than an eye toy with voice recognition.
im done arguing with you about this. think what you want, but ill will remain skeptical until the issues iv staed above are no longer a problem.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy and I'm very optimistic with Natal.

so you're an exception to the rule, you want me to find an MS fanboy that's skeptical about Natal to prove how pointless your statement is?

You don't need to, there's already some who aren't. Just go to NeoGAF and see it (yeah, there's few, but there is).

I already answered your questions sir. Please reread my posts.
You're absolutely right... fans of the other consoles seem to hate Nintendo and resent the fact that it has nearly 50% market share.
