Why is it safe to assume that? Is it safe to assume that Windows 7 is the solution to all of the Windows Vista issues people are having? Don't believe the hype. I'll believe in Natal when Microsoft delivers it in an open environment where everyone can try it.
Edit: On the original topic, I do think Nintendo would get tougher treatment, but that's because Nintendo is turning the industry upside-down. The video game media have invested so heavily in the old market that this is a serious threat to them (not that all of them understand it on that business level, but they do understand it on a "why do all these Wii games suck so bad but sell so well?" level).
As for the mainstream media, they need any sort of controversy they can find to sell their product so they love to show Microsoft and Sony declaring war on Nintendo.
