Forums - Nintendo - I really, really, really want Super Mario Galaxy 2. Like, now.

Seriously. Super Mario Galaxy was a fantastic game, but I did have a few complaints about it. I didn't like that the areas were pretty small and I felt the overall game experience was somewhat linear. Also, I thought it was a bit too easy.

Seeing Mario Galaxy 2, a mainline Mario-game in the same generation for the first time since NES, is incredible in and of itself - But also hearing that they are planning on making the game harder AND have larger more open-ended areas makes me think that this could potentially become my new all-time favorite game.

While Mario isn't my favorite franchise, my all-time favorite game is Super Mario 64, and has been for over 10 years. Finally seeing a game that might be able to top it just makes me giddy with excitement. It's release can't come soon enough!

No, even more than that!

Cant wait either its a great time to be a wii owner with MG2 and Metroid and the NSMB Wii game as well. All these games are on my first day purchase but MG2 is my most wanted. The first was awesome and I know the second will be better. And it has Yoshi in it. What more could you want?

I agree the areas were far too small. Going from one very very tiny planet to another. Would prefer each stage to be one or two massive planets.

I want it bad too. I wonder if it will give us different powers with different Yoshi colours again. Flying around on blue Yoshi with messed up gravity would be pretty awesome.

You might think Super Mario Galaxy is easy, but i think you're just too used to Mario games. When I first played SM64 it was really hard and took months to get 120 stars. Now I could do it in a week. I watched a 'normal' gamer play SMG and he struggled with just jumping on Goombas - just like I did with SM64. Making it harder would alienate beginners - which, as Iwata said, everyone was once.

Having hard segments for expert players is a better solution (Trial Galaxies) but the flaw was that they were three gimmick courses rather than being pure platforming AND hard.

They've already said that it's going to be harder, though.

Link? (I'm not doubting it).

I suppose that is because the game is aimed more at us than the general market (indeed I think it is a direct reaction to E3 2008's reception; NSMB Wii is what Nintendo would like to be doing with Mario as part of their general market strategy). I'm not against it being harder, but when NSMB Wii ousells SMG2 by 5x Nintendo will see which route they should have taken.
