Forums - Nintendo - New Iwata interview: Talks about market strat, apple, and no wii hd

I do love reading everything that man says. Even if the Vitality Sensor doesn't takeo ff in a big way, I'm very curious about how this will go.

The vitality sensor may be a good idea, but we don't know because they failed to show promising software for it. It would like MS just showing the Natal camera software and take their word as to its capabilities without seeing it in action.

"¿Por qué justo a mí tenía que tocarme ser yo?"

VB: There are two areas of potential threats, or red ocean, that I want to ask about. There are an awful lot of free games out there. In the last year, more than ever.

SI: Because of this? [Shows off his iPhone]
This was the defining point of the interview, for me.

True, we do not know. But with the process Nintendo takes, I think we will have something that can use the device and perhaps even sell alot of software with it. Listening to how he talked about it made me feel alot better.

The impressive thing about Iwata is how he talks and speaks; he goes into depth about the industry and why his strategy is good. He knows what he is doing and does not get up there and try to make his company look bigger than it is (like some console companies do). I think with him, the arrogant attitude that led to the cartridge fiasco in the n64 will not occur again. I would say I didn't think sony would make the same mistake it made with ps3, but the pspgo has proven me wrong.

Nice read.

$99.99 for DS Lite new from a reputable store instead of an ebay dealer where it might not actually be new and $149.99 for DSi, or $199.99 for Wii, and you can count me in.

I love the concept of letting developers decide when to release hardware.

"You can never jump away from Conclusions. Getting back is not so easy. That's why we're so terribly crowded here."

His comments about Vitality Sensor make me think that this will be their next Wii-Fit like attempt at exploiting the Blue Ocean and is less likely to be used in traditional games. I'm wondering if Nintendo is going to try to get into the online dating scene or maybe online personal training.

I still have no personal interest in buying a Wii Vitality Sensor. However, I think Iwata is a genius. I think, that the Nintendo name, the innovation, the marketing, and the design will be a sales success.

Not just because it has the Wii name in it. Wii Music is trash to me but I know a family that loves it, when I go over to their house the kids always want me to play with them - either that or some other games but Wii Music is still on that list...

6 billion people on the planet, 2-3 million people are sure to think the Wii Vitality Sensor is the bees knees.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

All Iwata's interviews are awesome
