Forums - Nintendo - what's the Wii's big game(s) for the fall/holiday season?

New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus is a much better holiday line up than Animal Crossing and Wii Music.

Absolutely, Wii Fit Plus will probably have higher reviews than Wii Music, and Animal Crossing(sort of a sequel to a ds game) was not very well received. NSMW(sequel to DS version) will most likely get higher reviews. So this year, Nintendo has the Marion fans and the casual market with sure buys.

There's probably more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.. Let me know if I've missed anything :P

But look at that list and think about the titles that we've already gotten this year like MadWorld, House of the Dead and Punch-Out!! It hasn't been all bad and things are really changing now.. 2010 we'll have games like..

Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid Other M
Zelda Wii
NMH2
Sin & Punishment 2

Not to mention massive third party support in bound.. It's looking tasty!

Damn I'm going to be poor.

Third party is the way to go. I'm really excited for NSMBWii and I don't know why you wouldnt be, but just look beyond nintendo. Third party support is just getting insane. There's multiple third party titles that could score higher reviews then NSMBWii: Muramasa Demon Blade, Monster Hunter 3, Silent Hill, Red Steel 2, Fragile, Tales of Grace, and Rabbids Go Home.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

Heaps of games. The ones on my radar:

- RedSteel II
- WS:R
- Wii NSMB
- Metroid Compilation
- Crystal Chronicles (assuming it gets released outside Japan for Xmas)
- WiiFit+ (maybe)
- MH3
- Silent Hill
- Rabbits Go Home (maybe)
- Punch-Out (maybe, rental at least)
- Harry Potter
- Mario & Sonic, Winter Olympics
- Ghostbusters
- RE:DSC
- The Conduit
- RPGs (??)

Heaps to play - very glad more isn't being released this year!

@Shams: It's a guarantee that MORE WILL be released this year then just what we already know.

Nintendo doesn't need to drop much.

While they are addressing the casual with Wii Fit Plus and Wii SPorts Resort, 3rd parties will be cleaning house with their various core titles.

Games that excelled last Christamas will make moderate returns as well (Nerf-N-Strike in particular I think) this year. Holiday 2009 is Wii central, and gamers would be foolish to not jump on the train.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

For me

Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate Stars
Fragile
Muramasa
Arc Rise Fantasia
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Silent Hill Shattered Dreams
A Boy and His Blob

There is not BIG title for the holiday season for us, Nintendo was kiding us. They called New SuperMarioBrosWii 'BIG' the same way they called BIG Animal Crossing last year.

Of course, both Wii Fit Plus and NewSuperMarioBrosWii will sell millions, good for them.

Fortunately, 3rd party games will do the work Nintendo is not doing: Red Steel 2, Dead Space Extraction, Muramasa, Fragile, Cursed Mountain, The Grudge, Darkside Chronicles, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Silent Hill, Rabbids Go Home....

little kings story (for north america)

I don't think Wii Fit Plus or NSMB Wii could possibly fail as much as AC and Wii Music did last year.

Don't kid yourselves: AC Wii and Wii Music are failures by Nintendo standards. No excuses. AC should have been built around new content instead of new features, and sold at least 8 million copies. Wii Music's standard was the other Wii-branded games; Miyamoto laid out Sports, Fit and Music as the core Wii experiences before the system came out.

But anyways... Starting with EA Sports Active, then WSR, WF+, NSMBW and M&S@WO, Wii could have 5 exclusive games that sell 5 million copies this year. I think that's a good haul of "big games."
