because most if not all nintendo franchises are from the 80's dude, FROM THE 80's they have like 15 different mario games, mario kart, mario party, mario RPG, luigi's mansion, super mario bros, mario paint, doctor mario, paper mario, mario's missing, mario land, mario world ,mario golf , mario tennis , mario & luigi, mario strikers, mario baseball, mario hoops, mario sunshine and mario galaxy, oh and mario appeared in Donky kong in 1981. Some of this have games sequels, that could make the list do to 25+ and there is also games with mario that dont have mario in the tittle like SSMB and yoshis island.

TALK ABOUT REHASHES!

some of this game dont need mario in the tittle really, but since the name mario sells, they put mario on it, so yes nintendo is milking too much out of mario and not to mention metroid(i love metroid ), zelda( and zelda too), wario and lately wii.

The only innovation in the last has been the wiimote and the casual gamer approach.

Halo is popular but they already killed MC in halo 3, GTA changes the lead character every time and refreshes the gameplay in every sequel, GoW has only 3 games so most current popular franchises are at 5 or less, so nothing cames close to nintendo when it cames to rehashes.

*spoiler* Master Chief didn't die >_>

And uh most people considder the Mario platformers the main series like I stated in the OP... rehash means same game over and over, while a totally different genre is.... well different.  It's like saying Sega Super Star Tennis is a Sonic game or Soul Calibur PSP is a GoW game...

Companies put out more games of the same series to please fans... people bitch about how long they have to wait for the next installment, and most companies that do this put a new one out every year but see Nintendo put out the last main line Mario game when?  2007?  and NSMB Wii will be this year so what 2 years?  and if you want to say the last main 3D Mario it'll end up being 2 and a half years.  And it's going to be about 3 years for Metroid and 4 years for Zelda... if that's milking I want to see your definition...

I'm guessing you're another one of those that is never pleased no matter what Nintendo does.  You just complained about milking yet during Sony's E3 they announced FFXIV before FFXIII has even released... Or MGS:R one year after MGS4... huzzah at hypocrisy

oh dont think all this bother me, but nintendo has exagerated (exaggerated, though I'm sure you meant over done it), anyway what i dont like right now is the focus on non traditional gamers, and i would be happy with more metroid like games, and zeldas , those game have more deph.

i mationed (mentioned) several genders (genres) but they overdo every gender (genre). You are talking about FF14 but FF games are never the same(there has ben some exceptions lately, x-2, etc) thats why they are so interesting. oh and the no online support thing shows that they are not into (on) "core" gamers.

OH the new super mario is a LBP rip off

Whoa that was hard to read...

Uhm ok, even with all the fixing the only thing that was clear to me is that you think a large community focussed online platformer is being ripped off by a local co-op platformer with no way to modify levels, no online, has power-ups for characters, and the only thing in common is 4 players... right... so... uhm... how can I dignify this with a response?

It's ok dude, hes not making any sense.

language barrier also am busy, mario galaxy is a single player game then they come up with this game that is 2d and is like LBP, isnt that suspicious? why couldnt is has been like mario galaxy with 4 people? or a 2d single player?

Language barrier is not a common sense/logic barrier...  you might not know this but Super Mario 64 on DS had 4 player multiplayer, as well as NSMB on DS, they were competitive modes, now they've just took the same idea from the DS game and expanded it on the console... main line Mario games have almost always had some sort of multiplayer with SM64 and Sunshine being the exceptions.

@maxwell

its not that i dont like reallife having doods over (got the controllers for it), its just i work wierd hours and live alone out in the middle of an industrial area here, so its harder for me to get together with friends and family

so itd just be convenient for me i guess

Yeah that's one reason it's a major plus to have.  I guess I stand on the side that says "would love online but not always needed nor needed to be the main focus" cause I'd love NSMB Wii to have online with Wii Speak or something but it's not going to happen but I'm not mad it's not there :P

i still gotta get wii speak, is it any good ?

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Its the little things that nitnendo sucks at.

Like you just announced a 4 player co-op 2D mario. Thats freekin amazing... until they tell us its local coop only.

http://kotaku.com/5278060/no-online-play-for-new-super-mario-bros

If I have 4 people over at my house...we are most likely watching the game or having a bbq. We are not playing the Wii. So coop is completely useless then...

Nintndo has been cutting corners like this for quite some time. They always screw the hardcore. Punch out is great throwback for old school gamers...however the wii motion controls really blow for that game and they didn't include Wii motion plus support...or online play.

Sega, not nintendo, is supporting the hardcore gamers on the Wii right now...all 5 of them.

So next time before claiming Nintendo is pleasing the hardcore, think about their hardcore offerings and what they are lacking...

lol at the use of the term "hardcore" and "casual."

I've always though the main series of Mario was suited for single player (when I say main series, I don't mean the spinoffs sports games like Mario Strikers, or Mario Kart).  No, Nintendo is supporting the "hardcore," you are just nitpicking what they don't do to please your own needs.

One simple thing.
Earthbound sequel!

I don't think ninty was bad this year I think that MS and Sony were fantastic, and if you watched the conference from nintendo... It was boring 90% of the time, and what people is grading is the conference. I'm excited about Super mario but galaxy 2, I have no interest because Galaxy didn't do it for me. I still think ninty has good games coming, No mo Heroes, red steel are a couple that I'm really interested in.

It's a consequence of trying to please everyone at once. It's easier to please people when one focuses on a niche. Thus games like valkyria chronicles get immense praise while wii fit would get tons of hate. They still make all the money with this strategy though so crying for them is rather pointless.
