you know what, i cant say. gt5 may or may not sell better because if you put out a great game to compete with another great game like forza 3 something un expected could occur. its been five years so its going to be interesting to see how gt5 does in term of sales and in terms of how well time can make a quality game in five years compared to forza 3. these things i'm looking foward to know and see.

The game is ready, Yamauchi said it could be shipped now. My guess is that Sony said it will release holiday 2009 with the Slim PS3 so now the game will just get polished more so.

Bish bash bosh EU and Japan taken care of with FFXIII helping the latter.

Week 1 - Week 15

GT released in Japan only.

Week 15 - Week 19

GT outsells Forza 2 with moderate bundling.

Week 21

Forza gets bundled with every Pro and Elite model in late October.

Week 45

GT gets forced bundled in Japan.

 

Forza wouldn't of been able to outsell the Proloue without bundling it in Fall through Winter in two systems (Im pretty sure in all 3 regions too but I might be wrong. Japan might not of recieved it)

Until Forza gets the worldwide respect from all auto manufacturers, care lovers, car magazined, car TV programs, etc... and auto makers ask for their cars to be included in the game I do not think Forza will compete.

That is like saying the next Killzone will possibly outsell Halo.

It has worldwide brand recognition, just like Halo. That is why it sells so great. As well as the tip top quality and love that goes into it.

 

You also realize you are saying 4M seller will sell on par or possibly better than a 10M+ seller right? Not to mention the former sold under 2M before being massively bundled with every 360 for the Holidays. Forza is still trying to build up. Gran Turismo is the current king of the mountain.

You also seem to be underestimatnig the inclusion of 2x the amount of cars, real life tracks, Nascar, etc...

See, there is a big misconception about GT5P sales in Japan. While they did have a bundle, they also released a cheaper re-release of it dubbed GT5P Spec III. This also sold very well!

Did that come out a little before the force bundles? If so then Week 57 would be the force bundles. Thanks for the info. I remember that re-release now. It had a couple more cars and tracks right?

Yes it did. It also had all of the GTTV stuff released so far included on the disc.

Why not? It has way more cars then Forza. Even the PSPGo version has twice as many cars. Why shouldnt it take twice as long? Especially with the studio also working on 2 versions.

forza 3 didnt take 5 years to make and look the game looks just as nice and offers more gaming fun. i think gt5 should have been out at this e3 and rack up sales before forza 3 launches in october.


Show me a Forza title with 800+ cars, Nascar automobiles, Nascar tracks, WSR, various other real life tracks, etc. all while being the most respected amongst car enthusiasts and motor companies around the world and then we can talk about how long something should take.

All I see is half the content in half the time. GT5 is just fine.

*note* Not saying Forza 3 will be a bad game, reviewers and such prove it is a quality title but it wouldn't matter if GT5 launched before, during or after Forza, it will sell better. It is the most respected for a reason. Car makers ask for their cars to be added in for a reason. Magazines, websites, etc... advertise it and praise it for a reason. PD is considered perfectionists in the racing sim genre for a reason.

if it will sell better regardless when than why not put it out right now, its gonna "sell better" anyway right, lol.


Simple. The answer is reputation.

PD can not afford to just dump a game out on the market without it being as perfect as they can possibly make it. These games are not only about the sales but more about keeping things in line with not only what PD and Sony wants but what the auto manufacturers want. You do understand that there is a very good reason why the auto manufacturers ask for their cars to be included instead of PD having to dish out cash right?

A good example is the damage in previous GT games. You think they didn't have damage because they didn't want it? No, it is because high end companies like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc... would not allow it. When you let a developer use your cars free or charge you have a lot of say in what can and can not be done in the game.

You need a bit to learn before you say what PD should or shouldn't do. You obviously do not understand what Gran Turismo is exactly.

what they should do is release the game, no one ask for a pspgo version infact no one knew about the pspgo untill just a little now, i mean isnt there a version on the psp already? i think they care more about maximzing the sales than actually releaseing it for us because if gt5 has high reputation they need not worry.
