Forums - Microsoft - If "Warhawk" and "SOCOM" were on the 360 ...

Would they sell? The reason I ask is - I have "Warhawk" and got "SOCOM" from a buddy at work. I wasn't thrilled by having to play SOCOM online - I prefer single player - but I did. And thought about it. Most games I play are offline. I do like playing online, but sometimes, I'm in the mood to just joke around, blow myself up and the like. I don't feel like competing. However, both of those games require the online component.

When I heard about MG Online and now FFXIV online for the PS3, and I thought about online only games for the 360. I could think of just one. That Final Fantasy game. That's it.

My question is - how would an online-only game sell on the the 360? Second, why make an online-only game?

Discuss.

Well I have no idea......

But they should bring FF14 to Xbox 360....sooner or later as I really want MMO's on consoles to become big

MMO's consoles become big = lower costs to play them = eventually free play as they have enough people who "buy gimmicky items"

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

go look at shadow run and unreal tourny 3 on the 360 and you tell me.

Also L4D is a fantastic game with great sales, and is for the most part an entirely online experience.

FPS developed by Valve is the exception not the rule.

Uhh... k?

Just how many PS3 games currently available are online only?  And of those how many are actually good?

SOCOM flopped hard thanks to the awful preliminary glitches and the long time it took to patch everything.  I still don't think many people play that.

Yep.  It flopped big time.  A huge flopping failure.

1 SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation     N/A 0.82m 12th Nov 08
2 SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs     N/A 3.44m 26th Nov 08
3 SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2     N/A 0.97m 26th Nov 08
4 SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo     N/A 1.37m 26th Nov 08
5 SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs     N/A 2.65m 15th Sep 08
6 SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs     N/A 1.55m 26th Nov 08

Grrr... the numbers are getting cut off. SOCOM is at .82 without DL's. Hardly a fail for an online only game made by devs who don't make the franchise.
