You mean like Halo, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto?

Because that isn't as casual as Mario and Metroid, right?

Lmao, yeah GTA is one of the most casual games out there and mostly the ones I've seen buy it are kids, which GTA is the whole reason the government has cracked down on game ratings and selling games to minors, because too many kids were buying GTA.

And eh FPS games are pretty casual games, I mean a new one comes out every month, takes only a few hours to beat, you play with friends, all sounds like it could be a discription for most "casual shovelware" but because it's got the M rating and a shooter it makes it ok.

People should kinda get over the whole "casual" "core" debate it's getting old, it's been around since the rebirth of console gaming with NES, and all it really stims from is older players hate it when new players come in, if you're really all that "core" most games now shouldn't please you when it has a sucky/short single player and easy as balls, try being King Arthur and killing some Ghosts N Goblins ;)

There is a difference between those two groups of games. Let's keep definitions out of this.

@theprof00: He has a point though, most FPS games are quite casual. A while ago I used to play a few rounds of Quake 3 with a bunch of friends who weren't big gamers...

Most modern games are what PC gamers of 10-20 years ago would call casual. The definition is just shifting.

How can I get one of these jobs? SHEESH. I would right an article on how Ubisoft's show was the BEST EVER! It had Cameron. It had tween girl material! It had HOT GAMES! It even had OUTRAGEOUS FRENCH ACCENTS! It was FULL OF WIN!

Uhm thats what I said... and my point... the general use of "casual" and "core" is thrown around a lot but the lines aren't that clear...

People use those terms more to throw around hate and to stealth troll.  As a gamer there is no reason to be displeased with any of the showcases at E3. 

I personally had more excitement in reguards to MS and Nintendo announcements but that stimmed from 90% of sonys conference was leaked weeks sometimes months before hand.

there should always be a difference, so that we all know what each other are talking about. Games aren't blurring the lines. The forum lurkers are.

To tell the truth I think casual/hardcore should be applied to gamers, not games. You can play Wii Play in a hardcore way (check out Wii Play youtube videos).
