Then again - I don't think they really care (about E3) anymore. They care about sales, and will have the top sellers (again) this Xmas... |
shams!
I know you're disappointed with Nintendo's E3, but come on. Look at what you're "agreeing completely with": --Mario Sunshine was a failure as a sequel to a Gamecube Mario game. --NSMBWii is practically a port of NSMB. --WM+ is in danger of being "stillborn" despite WSR and third party games --WSR is a disappointment because Spirit Tracks had a longer line and people were playing with frisbees
Are you sure that was "exactly" what you got out of the show?

Ok, you caught me out on this ;)
I only scanned the article - didn't deep-dive - so it probably includes things I disagree with.
- Sunshine was a good game, but in some ways it was a failure. I definitely felt it was disappointing, while still being a great game. Its one of the reasons the GC never exploded in sales.
- I was *very* critical of NSMB Wii - but then I saw some of the extra screens they *didn't* show, and that sort-of changed my opinion. I still wonder if it was a 'quick dev' reaction to dropping Wii sales in Japan - if NSMB Wii doesn't sell... nothing will. I still think it could have been more creative/different - online 4 players anyone? - but amazingly, the Wii has a real shortage of 2D (original) titles. In some ways I see this as 'LBP' for the Wii, in a Mario universe. Its bound to do amazingly well you would think - SMB is still one of the best (playing) games ever made.
- WM+, completely disagree. I think its going to be the Wii launch all over again. Its going to be HUGE.
- If I was at E3, I'd rather be playing Spirit Tracks ;). We get WSR soon, but not Spirit Tracks. And WSR doesn't leave much to the imagination - its just a better WiiSport + Wiimote.
Now, if RedSteel II was at Nintys booth - that is another story ;). That is my #1 anticipated title this year - it looks amazing, and should be awesome with WM+.
