Arc Rise has good sell through, but that's still low.

What I don't understand is the low shipment! After seing Muramasa sell everything first week, they only ship 4k more? Arghhh...

If people can't find it it can't sell. This is a fact.

Vas-y, of course not ;) Is a very low budget project. Sales are fine ;)

Was it really supposed to be big? I don't think so. Some were saying it will do a little better than Muramasa (which sold 16k on first day) but no one really believed it will be big.

I thoght it was going to be bigger. Most people were pegging it at least over 100k lifetime.

Not sure on the shipment, but it seems perfect. 50% first day meets demand and there's plenty left over. And I think we need to cut out the Muramasa supply constraint stuff. It isn't any more and the sales did not jump up.

You're seeing it the wrong way. If you had more shipped, it would have more visibility, or do you think the wide public buys from the internet. And if let the novelty and hype get away, you're loosing sales.

Why do you think Ben10 and whatever sales? Good exposure. This doesn't have the same appeal, but you can be sure that, if you shiped arround 50-60k, you would have the same percentage sold first day (-2-3%, perhaps). And it would sell everything, you can be sure of that. The same way Muramasa and Valkyria Chronicles continue ;)

Well, I guess your argument holds well, because if they ship more, stores will be forced to advertise it more in order to get the games off the shelves. I doubt if they shipped 60k it would have 30k though. This situations are always interesting, but Marvelous doesn't choose how many copies it ships. Retailers do.

P.S. Valkyria Chronicles' resurgence has to do with two things.

1. The brand new anime that's being shown in Japan.
2. The cheaper re-release that came out a week before the anime began airing.

Yeah, but who'd buy it? You only ship what the retailers demand, you can't ship more. If retailers demand 36K units, you can't ship 50K

Well, I also thought it would have a 'bigger' opening, like 35k first week. But how do we define big? Is 100k lifetime already a 'big' title?

I worked in the field and there are ways to persuade it withou loosing much margin. And yes, I know that in Japan shelf space is much more expensive (that's why they sold X360 for $10), so it could work diferentely. But ok... I solve the problem by calling retailers dumb instead :P

No, 100k does not make this a big title. I said bigger as in a higher number.

Although, 100k this generation seems pretty good for third parties.

Well, actually I was referring to Zlejedi, who said Arc Rise Fantasia was supposed to be quite a big title for Wii because it was hyped much here (which isn't right). So I wanted to know what 'big' means. But you're right, 100k for a third party game especially in Japan is quite an achievement.
