Forums - Gaming - One scary thought concerning the Wii (and MS sort of...)

The guy making the MS Natal said that he began work on the item 18 months ago.

18 months ago, that is December 07/January 08. MS decided that motion control was the leading thing so they jumped along the bandwagon as well, after the Wii's first (non-launch) holiday season.

Now here's my point.

In January 08, the Wii was recognized by MS as the market leader, technically officially(...?). I'm guessing that 3rd parties as well must've realized that the Wii would be in the power seat concerning this generation, so why the initial reluctance to join along?

Wii support should've definitely been a priority by February 2008. A lot of 3rd party stuff is coming, so I think this (12/07-1/08) is a notable benchmark.

Pitiful bump:P

I'm not seeing the scary thought or big point.

Remember microsoft wasn't blind to ignore nintendo's LEGENDARY E3 06

maybe E3 06 told them, right motion may be the way forward.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The lesson here is Microsoft and Sony are a lot smarter than most 3rd party management, and they also know more about the industry. No news here.

I don't need your console war.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Microsoft will be keeping an eye on a lot of things, and thinking up new ideas and various patents constantly, this just happened to be one of the ones which took shape with demand for this style of gaming increasing.

Are you saying that you think a lot of third parties also realized this at the same time? Meaning that if game development for the Wii started at around this time we should be seeing the fruits of that labor soon?

Is that it?

Exactly. Obviously, not every Wii related 3rd party though.
