no games?

lol people are saying no games

Ms isn't stupid they will launch a game with it

ALSO UBISOFT STATED at their briefing that they are working with it too

Stephen Spielberg wet his pants over Project Natal, which speaks volumes about what this technology can do.

Of course they´ll need to add a Dpad and/or analog stick...unless you want to play a game like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden by violently shaking your body all the time...not gonna work like that.

I don't doubt things can change at the drop of a hat. But damnit, I just can't see playing sophisticated games with this thing. Forza with an air wheel? No freaking way. Halo with an air gun? Dream on MS.

It needs a controller, a wand, SOMETHING.

@STAGE

exactly

the 2nd best film director ever approves of it!

Hell, this thing can't be used in a lot of games. It surely doesn't replace the Wii remote as it neither features buttons nor a control stick.

I really like Natal and I think it is cool but you should like it for what it is: A cool way to play games not a "Wiimote-killer" as there are too many games you can't play with Natal.

What games can Natal not play? The only problem I see with Natal is freedom of movement of the body backward, forward, left and right. They might need to add a directional pad.

I was thinking this, too.  The video showed a family playing in a pretty wide open floor plan home, almost "mega studio" layout with no walls.  I've got a pretty big living room, but would I have ot move the foot stools and the coffee table to play a game?  How is it going to know backwards or forwards if I run in place to move?

I guess we have to wait and see for the most part.  I know my WiiMote won't even work if I'm sitting on my couch because it's so far from the receiver...  I SHOULD have plenty of room to use the camera.  I just hope it can work in regular lighting, unlike the PSEye (I only have two large windows in the room, and have to have them both open on a sunny day to play Eye of Judgment or antyhing like that).

 Ubisoft is working on their own camera with Nintendo. If you take a look at the My Shape game, the motion camera comes with the game. It would be potentially bad if MS let Ubisoft into the tech, as they could use it to enhance the UbiCam for the Wii. This would be counterproductive for the Natal system, as the UbiCam is set to launch this year. If the casuals get something very similar to Natal earlier, it effectively shuts down that market entirely for MS.

Every press reporter who has received NATAL has said one thing:

IT BLOWS AWAY THE WII!

NATAL is the wii killer, it doesn't take long for trends to change!

microsoft you sneaky devil you!

EDIT: on GMTV one of em said they'd sell their wii to make sure they had enough money for this!

Mission accomplished by Microsoft.  Without having a real product in the market, with a known price or known software support, it has the press reporters declaring it is "the Wii Killer".  And now you see why companies release information like this, as early as they do.

Brought over from another thread -

The main point here is that this news might be fresh now, since E3 is going on, but they quickly forget what they reported a day or 2 ago for the current news. Since NATAL wont be available for a year or more, the major stations will have long forgotten about it, as will any potential interest. The target audience for NATAL is geared towards casuals and super-tech people. The super-techs will remember, but they likely already are 360 or PS3 owners. The casuals have a 3 day consumer attention span. If they don't get reminded of it, its out of their heads within 3 days.Thus, all the E3 news will be dead to them by the weekend.

lol Fox News? Since when is Fox News actually credible?

I recall a study showing that if you just get your facts and news from Fox, you'll be among those of the least informed in the US, if not the world.

@bardicverse

you seem to be at any extent hating these news reports

are you insecure or afraid of something?
