Forums - Gaming - Why so pumped because a trailer?

Just watching some trailers, not actual gameplay, I don't understand why people have e-orgasms. In a trailer we don't see anything where we can inference if a game is going to be interesting, or the worst game in eons. The Last Guardian/Halo Reach trailers are just that, trailers. In some cases, we already knew what we were going to see. Why people get so pumped by CGI videos?

I dunno. My friend hyperventilated over the Knights of the Old Republic trailer. Even if I didn't hate MMOs, that trailer would still get a big fat "meh" from me. Sure, it was cool, but... gameplay, plz.

Good point.
I don't even know why movie studios show trailers.
Why advertise at all?

In a movie, you get an early impression of the whole. In a game, what do you get with a trailer?

People usually are excited because it gives us a view of what is to come. If a Final Fantasy is announced with CGi imaging, you can see the atmosphere of the game and you know what you can expect of gameplay (the basics).

With The Last Guardian, we know it is going to be a hugely emotional experience and the trailer suggests just that, meaning everyone is excited, knowing how the previous games turned out.

Halo.... really, does one need to explain this one? It's a huge franchise, which has kept millions of gamers locked to their xbox, and you wonder why they are excited when more Halo is announced? Funny man :)

Well, the Last Guardian is apparently all in game, which is phenominal

However, the thing that is getting me most excited is Uncharted 2, not just the mind blowing conference showing, but the fact that I played co-op this morning!

The Last Guardian, GOW 3, MAG, GT5 are all in game

Not really, you get an early impression of the CGI of the game, and maybe parts of the script, not of actual gameplay. Sometimes you get nothing, as in the Splinter Cell trailer.

GTFO! No way was that bird/cat thingy in game! That HAD to be souped up ingame engine at the LEAST. It looks like something I'd see in a freakin movie! Hot damn!
