Forums - Nintendo - So is Metroid: Other M Samus' origin story?

Assuming from the young look she has at the beginning of the trailer and (presumably) Adam Malkovich her "old CO" referenced in Metroid Fusion, distinguished by his "Any objections lady?" line.

Sounds awesome to me. The story of how she became the "famed bounty hunter" that is called in by the Galactic Federation (or whatever generic sci-fi institution Metroid uses) in the original Metroid. This also opens up Samus to deeper characterization and the Metroid universe to broader worldbuilding (both suggested by the trailer.)

Would any of you rather have had another side-story and/or Metroid 5 than this? Personally I think this is an incredible choice for the new Metroid.

Possibly and hopefully. Are we going to be seeing Ninja Gaiden: Metroid this year? Because it looks practically like Ninja Gaiden Sci-fi, and if you've followed my posts before I like Ninja Gaiden. A lot.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

It's like Star Trek: a rebirth of the series!

I called it first! =P

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Well played.

If they're going to do the origins thing, I hope they throw in some flashbacks to Samus being rescued and raised by the Chozo. I'd kinda like to see what the Chozo were like before they were ghosts.

Is that woman with the blond, short hair you see at the beginning actually Samus? Because right after that you see someone who's definitely Samus, in her Zero suit, but who looks very different from that short-haired girl.

Also, at the end, you see another blond woman, who looks like a doctor or something, when Samus is in her suit and says 'I'm Samus Aran'.

I don't know, but as a guy that has a thing for short-haired women, I hope she plays a major role. =P

Otherwise, I think this will be a great game. Since it's being made by Team Ninja, it will most likely be the hardest game Nintendo has published since Fire Emblem on the Wii.

I also got an origin story vibe. Was really weird hearing Samus talk though, but they at least got a good actress to do it.

I made that assumption after seeing the video. That is an awesome trailer, this game has ALOT of potential.
