Forums - Sales - I thought 360 sales would be up for halo but damn...

I picked up Halo 3 today and noticed a lot of people with the pre-order slips but not any 360's. I then went home to try and play Halo but my 360 crapped out. It's been like this for a couple of weeks. It won't read the discs anymore. I then went to Futureshop and exchanged my 360 for an Elite. Still didn't see too anyone leave the store with a console.

Wow. Its all over the board. Gamestop's and other video game only retailers probably have much different ratio's than Walmart. Can't wait to see next week's update on numbers.

My story is already quoted above, so I won't retell.

Midnight curfew...? Like, you can't walk outside?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Ohh, you can flame this in other ways than to just dismiss it as worthless anectdotal evidence. One could just say all those guys already have 360's but are buying a second one for when their current 360 dies because its owner had the temerity to play video games on it.

Superchunk will arrive shortly with his version. 150 people in line and not a single 360 out of the door.

I do believe it will move some consoles, though... The big question is how many? 100K? 250K?

Microsoft assumes 30%of the first week halo 3 buyers will buy a 360 with it.

Do you have a link to this number attributed to a Microsoft Exec?  I can't believe anyone (even at MS, lol) would make that kind of prediction.  They KNEW going into launch that they had 1.5 million already sold and probably hoped at least another 1 million would go out the door within the week.  30% of 2.5 million is 750K consoles in one week... I can't imagine that even being a remote possibility and any MS employee that honestly believed so and put it in writing should be publicly ridiculed.  Man, I'll have a heaping helping of Crow if they do, eh?

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

lol.....funny thing is that people who bought the Wii or PS3 and didn't like it and traded it in, Gamestop or any store that sells video games, still records that as a sale. So saying that people are buying a second one is nonsense.

And who cares about 360 dying, when the Falcon editions come out, its a wrap. I love my Elite system its quiet and running nice and cool. No problems, extra heatsink really helped out alot.

Uffz, so many news about halo 3 lately. It was a little different than exactly stating that.

"But the real question is what the broader impact of Halo will be, particularly on sales of the Xbox 360. Kim said he has talked with retailers, some of whom expect 30 percent of early Halo 3 purchasers to also take home an Xbox 360."

didn't we expect this? i always did...

Even if Halo 3 pushed an unprecidented number of XBox 360 systems out the door (say 500,000) it would be a very small number of systems sold in the grand scheme of things ...  Realistic numbers of about 150,000 systems this week and elevated system sales for the next couple of weeks are really not going to make much of a difference in total console's sold.

I expect sales of 200k next week. I expect 100kish for the following three weeks at least.
