Forums - Nintendo - New Super Mario Bros pushing limits of wii.

I'll admit, the experience would be better with 4 people playing together, there is no question about that, but having online would be a nice bonus.

I think this game is trying to be a throwback to the old glory days...when we all competed to complete hard, complicated levels and to do it with the help of some close friends together...corny, yes but a whole shit load of fun.

It was just a line, it's Nintendo's excuse for putting as little money and effort into a title with out losing sales...

I am still buying it, and it'll probably be worth it for single player alone (considering how much I love Mario games).

Why add a feature to a product if you do not have to?

You must be joking...

If you go back to the Nintendo conference discussion, you will find that I had a fit when people started comparing it to LBP.  Mario is nothing like LBP other than the camera position and the 4 players.

That being said, I do believe it.

Explain: Why would a company put a feature into a game when they know it will sell as much either way?

Or: Would you rather believe that the Wii really is being pushed to the limits here?

It's lose/lose but I prefer the first question myself for a couple of reasons.

1. Conduit is already doing way more.

2. Nintendo is full of smart business people.

I don't see how they can be so sure that the effort of developing online play wouldn't result in substantially greater sales. Do they think it's a coincidence that Nintendo's best selling core game on the Wii is also hailed as being Nintendo's best implementation of online play?

Sure, Mario Kart Wii has a lot of things going for it, but quality gameplay, tons of content and broad appeal can be found other core games which haven't sold as well.

It would have to be a joke, or the game is running some sort of realistic physics engine.

I find it hard to believe that Shiggy would bullshit, but of course, he is not a god, some infallible being. But it seems out of character either way

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Lol you're not gonna have 4 players local all the time, online is for that.

Notice your example also has the word "Mario" in it.

Type Mario into the game database or this link and organize the results by sales... then go down to number 59...

That is how many million sellers Mario has had just that are tracked or recorded in the VGC database.

Edit: Hit post too early

Then add in all the games that are missing NA and Other numbers...

Why would they have to put in online?  Maybe they learned from Mario Kart that online isn't used by enough individual players to include it.  Maybe they don't care and just want an easy 3-5 million seller as opposed to a 10+ million seller.

The talent, like they have at Nintendo, is not unlimited.  They can't be all things at once.  To get more talent, maybe it cost too much.  Maybe it just isn't out there.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

This game will be amazing, so much we don't know about it yet.

Nintendo still doomed?

I don't buy it. Not for a second.

Me neither.  Unless there's something goin' on behind the scenes in the game we just don't know about yet, that can't possibly be the reason why they're leaving out online.

I guess it's possible they've filled the Wii games disk up with levels, items, characters .etc.

But I doubt it.

At that point wouldn't they just use a dual layered disc?
