Forums - Gaming - E3: So, who do you really think had the best conference?

Nintendo won the "conference wars" this year for me. They had the biggest line-up of announcements. I'd put Microsoft in second place and Sony in a distant third place. I think the laughter at the Sony conference was a good indicator of public reaction to their line-up.

Im nearly sure that Sony announced more things http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=75147&page=1

1. Sony = FF XIV exclusive announcement, UnCharted 2, MGS:Rising, GT 5 and God of War 3. PSP Go and MGS:Peace Walker  for PSP. Clear winner.
2. Nintendo = Super Mario Galaxy 2 and new Metroid game. Distant runner-up
3. Microsoft = No games worth mentioning. Disappointing performance. Last place.

1. Microsoft = Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Halo ODST and Reach, MGS: Rising and yes Natal. (best show)

2. Sony = Uncharted 2, FFIV, GOW3, and the ICO game (close second)

3. Nintendo = I gave up on nintendo and this conference didn't help.

How can youy put MGS Rising for Sony and then say that MS had nothing worth mentioning? Isn't it multiplat?

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

Microsoft only because everyone is talking about NATAL. Thats the kind of buzz you want coming out of one of the biggest trade shows of the year . The problem will anyone remember it by the time it is released. Nintendo is second simply for being most improved (it couldn't have been much worse) They had something to make everyone happy in my opinion and were really solid. Sony is third mostly due to pushing almost everything into 2010 and for bad scheduling like last year they presented last but by then all the big multiplatform games had been announced for the 360. Sony didn't even bother to mention any of them this year and spent too much time focusing on games they have been talking about for a year or 2 already. The PSP was really a bright spot for them they looked like they really gave the platform a shot in the arm.

LOL!!!!! at the fonboys

nintendo had the worst conference!!! i keep getting dissapointed every year with nintendo....a little dissapointed they are over using mario, zelda and metroid...

However they did show some cool game...more interesting games then the exclusives shown on 360 like....

Kingdom hearts, Golden Sun, Metroid (over used but its atleast somewhat different), Final Fantasy Crystal breakers, Mario Galaxy 2 (same as metriod, over used but does look fun)

I think Nintendo's lineup was totally predictable. Not bad, not awesome, just expected.

IMO i thought Microsoft had the best conference but only by a ppinch.

that demo about malo or what ever (the boy) was just crazy!! dont know what it will be used for, seems useless but its damn cool. Also natal seems really cool, seems to have alot of functionality.

Sony conference had the best games new and old hands down, and the motion control seems to be the best out of the three.

only reason why i think microsoft was a little bit better was because of Malo

Metroid hasn't been overdone.  There hasn't been a 2d / 3d Metroid or a Metroid that wasn't mainly an fps since the 16 bit days.  This is one game that Nintendo fans have been wanting for ages, and Nintendo finally gave it to them.  Metroid:  Other M is, along with The Last Gaurdian, the two best games at the show.

All the news websites and gaming sites in the UK are saying Microsoft easily had the best show this year, none of them seem impressed with Nintendo's even though I thought it was a bit better than Sony's,

I think Sony and Nintendo came out with the most surprises. SMG2, Metroid M, NSMBW, FFXIV, GT Mobile is alive, has 800 cars, and is hitting this October, etc.

Overall... I'd probably have to give Sony the nod, because of the Last Guardian as well as the demos of Uncharted 2 and God of War III. Nintendo was a very close second. Yoshi in SMG2, a Team Ninja developed Metroid, and a competitive 2D Mario? Wowee!

Natal was cool, but it seemed like mostly theoretical technology that won't be ready for another couple of years, compared to WM+ and Sony's knock-off which works great and will be here within the next year. Natal is great for scrolling through menus, but it doesn't seem useful for too many games, outside of Wii Sports-like tech demos. Also, based on impressions from Eurogamer and the like, the Milo demo was heavily scripted, and the kid didn't react to most things people would say.

It seems like the technology is still a ways off, particularly the Milo bit.

Exclusive to a consoles is still Exclusive. One reason is because there are two completely different markets of gamers. PC gamers primarily only play on PC and could care less about any console, just as most console gamers don't care about hardcore PC games. Sure there are exceptions to the rule but this is true at least 90 % of the time.

Do you have any evidence for that, or is it just a gut feeling?

That's what I was wondering.  There are a number of PC gamers on this very forum that don't fall under his sweeping generalization, such as you and myself.

Eurogamer, IGN and gamespot was very very impressed with Natal, the burnout game running perfect with it (no lag), the tech demos (ball game and paint) then the milo demo which also impressed them (although they said parts of the program were scripted but natal worked perfectly),

Make no mistake, Natal will be at the top within a year of release as there is nothing like it out and seems like something bought from the future, this is why it has made so many headlines around the world seince the announement on monday, Sony's motion control was the laughing stock at E3 and in most the papers and websites I have seen, looks more like an adult toy.......
