Forums - Sales - Will Wii Sports sell the most copies of any game EVER?

Just curious but it is it generally accepted to count poke'mon red blue and green as one game for purposes of sales?

That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me, I mean convincing your customers to pay for basically the exact same game 3 times is clever and all, but they are different games that don't come as one (as far as I know) and it seems like they should be treated as such.

Does anyone know if the two Zelda games were treated as one for sales? According to wikipedias best selling video games listing...

Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages are treated as seperate games. Just sort of odd that they are lumped is all. I suppose it's a matter of perspective really.

In any case I have a pretty good feeling that SMG will be passing Poke'mon, whether you add it up or not.

Sure Wii Sports could become the highest selling game of all time but it'll be a hollow and illegitimate victory. There will ultimately be far more impressive sales efforts out there.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones

I don't think it will be bundled much longer.

I mean, Wii Sports is a great showcase game and all but a game does get surpassed over time. I think after 1 year - 1 and a half years (From Wii Launch), Wii sports will be getting old and there will be much better software to showcase the Wii.

So no, I don't think it will surpass 30 Million units WW.

In that 40 Million count, does that include Super Mario Brothers All stars (As it was included in that package). Or what about the VC version of the download. Surely that will add something to the 40 Million?

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

The best selling game ever on a non-hand held console in Japan is a probable and legitimate victory.

The pokemon games were essentially the same game with some extremely slight difference (what pokemon could be caught I believe?), the oracle of seasons and ages were really quite different as far as plot and gameplay went. Oracle of Ages involved you travelling through two different timelines (think OoT) while Oracle of Seasons had you changing the seasons to get different effects. Both had entirely different plots.

Really the only thing linking them was the use of the same engine and the fact that after clocking both games you got access to a 'master boss' of sorts.

So yeah, pokemon games should be counted as one and the oracle games as seperate in my opinion.

Why do you say that? The market is more than twice as big now as it was then and the Wii looks on track to win this generation, the only thing that could stop it is Wii sports no longer being packed in.

The phrasing here is none too kind, but I agree it will be much more impressive if Super Mario Galaxy or Super Smash Bros. Brawl hit ten million.
