Forums - Sales - Will Wii Sports sell the most copies of any game EVER?

I don't think there is a thread about this, I looked and couldn't find one.

 

So the best selling game of all time worldwide is the original Super Mario Bros. It sold over 40 million copies.

Considering that the NES sold about 60 million consoles, thats an attach rate of 2/3 or 66%.

Right now worldwide sales of the wii are 11.78 and Wii Sports is at 8.78. An attach rate of 74%.

Because Wii sports is bundled in most territories and is such a hit everywhere. All Nintendo needs to due is out sell the NES and Wii Sports should be the new champion.

It seems like a lot of people are predicting lifetime Wii sales to be way larger than 60 mill. Do you think we can pretty much accept a new champion of gaming when Mario has reigned for so long?

If Wii Sports stays bundled with the Wii for at least the next two years then yes, it will be the best selling console game of all time.

Yes. Being bundled with the Wii and that all indicators are showing that the Wii will outsell NES, it should top Super Mario Bros.

The question is how long will it stay bundled. I predict consoles with Wiifit as the packin to be the hot item for Christmas 2008.

@Astrodust, I don't think so. Wiifit requires the balance board. You may see retailer bundles with these, but not from Nintendo.

Wii Sports proves the Wii. To really get into it, you need Wii Sports. It will remain bundled through 2008 at least.

agreed..until nin gets a new "showcase" game for the system it wont be pulled out

I really think that after a couple years Nintendo will have something different from Wii Sports that comes with the Wii...like Wii Sports 2 or something.

Probably just another Wii titled game, maybe music, Iwata recently said that they don't have Wii Sports 2 in mind at the moment anyways
