Actually a Japanese friend of mine told me a joke that supposedly circulates there a lot. He told me that Sony installs a timer for products to stop working 1-6 months after their warranty wears off. I have had problems with -some- sony products I admit that but no more then I have with Microsoft or most other companies. However as far as games go Nintendos reliability puts them all to shame.

Really, sounds similar to stuff I hear about Apple and Ipod batteries where you pretty much just have to replace the whole thing when they finially die.

As for Sony products, our old Sony TV's light tube finially showed signs of it's final hours after like 10 years. My PS2 and PS1 have been good thus far and the PS1 is a SCPH-1001 and the PS2 is a v3. I think I remember the PS1 doing a NES thing with displaying random colors once when I turned it on and the PS2's disk tray is a little messed up from a nasty fall, but they're both still working.
