I wouldn't expect other characters since it wouldn't fit the story probably. Peach has to be rescued, Bowser is the bad boy, and Wario/Waluigi don't really fit into a classic Mario platformer, especially since they are enemies too. I expect the game to focus on single player mode anyway.

I'm hoping the second Toad is a placehoder. Would be great if they have a wide variety of unlockable characters. Even if they don't, it's the first 2D Console Mario since SMW in 1991, so, yeah, I'll take it. :D

I seriously doubt those will be the final character list. I'm sure it will have a decent list.

For some reason, I doubt this is truly Miyamoto's vision for the game. Didn't he say he was proud to have finally found a bridge between a competitive and cooperative 4-player Mario experience? The 4D game, as Cammie said?

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I'm a little disappointed, yes. But that's one of only two things wrong with the entire game. I'd really rather have Wario and Waluigi though. I really don't expect multiple characters to be selectable. First player is Mario, second player is Luigi, third is toad, fourth is other toad. I really hope I'm wrong though.

I wasn't really impressed by what was shown during the press conf, but the trailer looks amazing. Multiplayer chaos fun and great Super Mario platforming.

The character I would like to play as is Bowser! Come on, give me Bowser, Nintendo
