Corporate vice president of Xbox Live, John Schappert has told the BBC that now the Metal Gear franchise is heading to Xbox 360, the company now has “all the franchises” and “the best games.”

“The Metal Gear Solid franchise was the last franchise that we were really truly looking to get on board,” he said

“We’ve got the best games and we’ve got all the franchises that might have started their lives on other consoles coming to the 360.”

Piers Harding-Rolls, a senior analyst with Screen Digest, said the reason for the lack of exclusives is because of an open market.

“When the PlayStation 2 was the dominant platform, it was less of an issue for developers to tie up an exclusive deal,” offered Piers.

“Today developers want to maximise their sales and that means making a game to go out on all platforms.

“There is no denying that Microsoft has done well in improving its relationship with third party developers and the Metal Gear Solid announcement is another notch on the old bedpost.”

Key words missing are "third" and "parties"

Sony has that and EPIC First Party Games.

Best games? Fair enough. All the franchises? Shut up Schappert. You're still missing some of the biggest franchises today (Wii, Brain Training, etc.) And if we're talking third party, they're missing the Mario & Sonic series as well. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games had sales up there with Call of Duty 4, so their library still isn't complete.

It is entirely possible that when the 360 released, MS head said "Right, we want GTA, FF, MGS, RE releasing either the same time, or earlier on the 360. Mission accomplished.

DQ, MH, KH are 3 good examples
Mario, Zelda, Wii_____, GT are more examples, because he never even specified all the 3rd party franchises.

I also find their claim of "The best games" doubtful. Well, it's not so much doubtful as compeltely subjective

IMO they could have broken the bank a bit more by tieing up Bioshock 2 and Rockband 2 as exclusive. I am still impressed though!!

I am sure if Sony announced the next Halo or Gears coming to PS3 it would be a different story.

So they still don't have the biggest exclusive franchise of last generation.
