Sony doesn't deserve respect, Kojima respects gaming. Its not like hes a 1st party developer suddenly making Xbox 360 games.
Tease.

A tad immature...what are you talking about?
I started a thread and asked a question and gave across my opinion. There is nothing immature about stating that I think he has been slightly disrespectful based only on the fact that it was announced for the 360 before the PS3.
We all understand that especially in this current climate, developers need to be making money, but it goes to show that money has dictated what has been done rather than a developer that has been faithful to the playstation brand much more than any other has stood his ground and gave Sony the limelight for the new annoucement.
I think you should read the actual post properly before coming out with demeaning remarks about fellow posters. And it's mean for feedback on the post and your opinion not personal thoughts on who posted them.
Grow up and communicate properly.
Prediction (June 12th 2017)
Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.
PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)
PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
| Alasted said: OP, would it have been acceptable to you if Kojima had announced the game for the PS3 first and the 360 later? |
It's nothing to do with being acceptable...it's just my opinion, but yes I think it would be been more respectful of his relationship with Sony to announce the game firstly on the PS3 then the 360 or just announce the game at the Konami event for both platforms.

If Sony had a bigger install base like they thought they would have, developers would not feel the need to branch out so much. I bet at the heart of any passionate developer is the notion that they want their games to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Now sometimes marketing staff will allow those notions to be squashed when Sony/MS throws a ton of money at them for exclusivity, but that doesn't always win.
Wait... wasn´t the first metal gear on a Nintendo console??

"Sony "stole" them with the use of other means. Superior technology and opportunities for third parties"
You got to be kidding me! Did PS1 have superior technology more so than N64? No it did not. PS1 was 32 bit and N64 64 bit. Either way that wasn´t the reason. The reason was that PS1 did get a much bigger userbase and bigger money was to be made on Sony´s platform than on Nintendo´s.
"Wait... wasn´t the first metal gear on a Nintendo console??"
Exactly. Which is something Sonyfans never seems to remember in cases like this. Sony weren´t the start of it all when it comes to videogaming, there was a time before it.

We're not talking about legal obligations , we're fully aware of the fact that Kojima or any other 3rd party can develop for any console they choose, It's Kojima's history with the Playstation brand that has caused some disapointment amongst the playstation audience, it's like all those years of Metal Gear Solid games on the Playstation meant nothing , in the period of 15 mins he neglected around a decade of history. |
I wasn't talking about legal obligations either.
Firstly, the MG(S) series is not even as strongly associated with PS as you would like to believe.
the MG series started on the Gameboy (I believe that was the first)
and the MGS series has seen iterations on the GC and Iphone.
I just don't see why making a game a multiplat instead of an exclusive should be frowned upon. It is very risky to make exclusive HD games, and surely 360 owners also getting to enjoy MGS games is better than the studio risking bankruptcy and not making any more games ever
| kowenicki said: @davygee Yes it is immature... it is the thought process of a fanboy. Do you think big corporations and business men (like kojima... because he is a business man) give a toss about fanboys? No. thy do care about true fans however and.... A true kojima fan, a mature sony fan, a mature gamer will not care about the fact that it has gone multiplat, they will not care that it was announced at the MS show first. They will be happy there is a new game and it is being enjoyed by as many people as possible. |
All in your opinion then. I don't care about the basic fact that the game has went multiplatform...that was not the point of the post, again if you read it properly. It was about being respectful to the main base for his games...and IMHO he wasn't...whether it wasn't thought about or was down to money...it doesn't matter...my opinion is that he wasn't respectful, so I don't see how, firstly, this makes me a fanboy and secondly makes me immature.
Anyway, on another topic, MGS:Rising being multiplatform does raise other issues, which will no doubt be brought up in countless other topics regarding the quality of the game considering its need to be multiplatform.

I don't think respect is the word. For a moment I thought I was on a gangsta rap forum.
On the other hand, business is business is not completely fair either. It is true that this man was associated with Sony as a brand, and let's not be naive, it's obvious he is an icon for many and having him there physically was a hit for Microsoft, as if saying "now it's our guy".
It's a business we all (should) understand that, and going multi-platform makes sense, even exclusvie for some good cash, but I can understand that the fact he was part of the Microsoft show is seen by some as a low blow. Not really lack of respect, but manners count too. Having said that, I would do the same
, but I would probably show up at Sony's show too, for the sake of my relationship with Sony.

Yes, Sony doesn't deserve respect , let's overlook the fact that they've massivley contributed to modern console gaming ( more so than Microsoft certainly ) more so than the vast majority of gaming comapnies , let's ignore the success of the PS1 , PS2, PSP , PS3 (at least marketshare wise) and the wealth and diversity of 1st ,2nd ,3rd party support Sony has brought onto it's gaming platoforms.
The playstation brand is synonymous with gaming and Kojima does respect that , it's just that everyone respects money more.
