Instead of attacking his character why not try to attack the points he was making.

What points?  That he hated everything that MS presented?  The only thing he even mentions being decent to look at was CoD2.  I mean for Christ's sake in all the things MS presented that's all he can bring up in good mention.  Then he takes swipes at that Cliffy B guy for how he's dressed.  How is that relevent?

Anything he doesn't have mean things to say about he doesn't mention.  He didn't say crap about the Halo games other than that they were coming and one pleased the audience while the other was less so.  What unprejudiced person would present their thought on the conference in that manner.

I don't have any particular like of MS, and I have no stake in any exclusive they mentioned, but as a reasonable person I have to admit that they had alot of great parts that excited people in their conference.  I was talking to Machina as it went on and he really loved the Splinter Cell presentation and Left4Dead 2 announcement.   No reasonable person could watch that conference and then write what Malstrom did.  If he wrote an article about how the motion control will fail that is fine, but attacking everything that was presented is simply fanboyism.

Torillian, first of all, His whole post was supposed to be his own reaction to Microsoft's conference. So anything that happened during the conference is relevant, no? Futhermore, the guys a blogger, not a journalist. He can say whatever he wants to however he wants to. He has no need to appear "unbiased" (as if someone can't be biased) he's just saying what he truly thinks. So in that sense, he's biased towards his own opinion! A shock I know.

Second of all, the guy didn't mention parts that wouldn't support his argument?? Double shock!

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Then that's just poor argumentation. You have to mention things that don't support your argument, a talented debater will be able to show how these points are of less importance or how his arguments outweigh the counter arguments.

I don't think the parts Malstrom omitted would have proved his argument wrong, they just counldn't be used to help prove him right. They didn't form some sort of counter-argument together.

I just thought of something, reading Malstrom's article. What if he's right, but not for the right reason? What if MS is using this strategy so Nintendo will further improve on their cam tech, starting from the Ubi-Cam, and harness something really unique and innovate with the tech. MS will be quietly taking notes, and use the new ideas to build upon the next MS control. Sort of making Nintendo go "all-in" with the camera tech and then using their idea to improve upon. Could be an interesting bluff strategy.

This.

Seriously, guys I saw more intelligent debates at NeoGAF! :o  Even about Malstrom!

Yes, Malstrom is a stupid, arrogant asshole , and he is an Nintendo MegaFanoy. Also, he eats his own poop.

Now could you please explain why the Natal has absolutely zero software lineup, why is it planned to be released at earliest when its console will be 5 years old, why did they announce a skateboard controller right before the Natal, that is supposed to make it obselete?

who is this guy again, and why do nintendo fanboys always post his articles?

They said during the show that development kits were being sent out now.  Some of the first games that will appear for it will likely be casual in nature and I can't really see those games having very long development times.  If anything some of the first games for it might be some of the games we now see on the Wii.  Companies could also take existing games and offer support for it, strategy games being a good example.  As for the skateboard controller the concept might have been in development for two years or more.

It's funny how a lot of people bashed Microsoft before when they had an E3 press conference that basically only showed games that were releasing the same year and now that they've actually showed their future plans they're being bashed again.  I guess it's impossible to please everyone.

Malstrom is a blogger, as noted. He's one of the few people who's actually taken the time to read the various strategy books which Nintendo cites regularly as the inspiration for their business plans, and thus has a fair bit more insight into how Nintendo's policies and decisions are made than most people do. Said business strategy books more or less outline a roadmap for innovation followed by businesses for centuries, as well as how to successfully implement a change in an industry. He's also done some research recently on Microsoft's history. So you could say he kind of knows a thing or two about the practicality or impracticality of a new product.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

"Also, he eats his own poop."

He does? :o
