Malstrom is a blogger, as noted. He's one of the few people who's actually taken the time to read the various strategy books which Nintendo cites regularly as the inspiration for their business plans, and thus has a fair bit more insight into how Nintendo's policies and decisions are made than most people do. Said business strategy books more or less outline a roadmap for innovation followed by businesses for centuries, as well as how to successfully implement a change in an industry. He's also done some research recently on Microsoft's history. So you could say he kind of knows a thing or two about the practicality or impracticality of a new product.
