Forums - Gaming - Malstrom: NATAL (or as he calls it, the MS Phatom will never be released)

Either way when it is released it looks very promising, remember lionhead had 2 weeks to make that ScarY realistic interaction with that poor little AI boy

i thought he said 2 months.  Nintendo doesn't have anything to worry about.  They have already established themselves and their franchises (wii sports) that the mass market know about.  Microsoft is taking a risk here, but it is one that they have to take imo or they lose the opportunity to ever becoming the leader in the gaming market.

It's going to be really tough to repeat and accomplish what nintendo has already done.  The technology looks great, but it doesn't accomplish anything if people don't pick this up in groves and devolopers don't implement it into their games.  To me, if they don't make the operation of the menu's in xbox's dashboard and make the product really user friendly, then they can forget mass market success.  Nintendo's channels are very easy with a point and a click.  Xbox dashboard is way too complicated for casual gamers. imo.

Malstrom is a fucking nitwit, and Peter Molyneux isn't any phantom.

Here, here.

Stephen Spielberg = dissapointed

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Malstrom's hatred of the HD consoles should now be pretty obvious to everyone.  He should of just saved everyone the trouble of reading his post and just said he has a "gut feeling".

they put their asses on the line by putting it in E3, it is ridiculous to think that they won't release it.

Not true at all. There are tons of games and hardware that are displayed at E3 that never see the light of day.

In big ass conferences for the whole world to see?  I can't remember any of the hardware companies spending so much time in their E3 conference for something and then never release it.

this. M$ will release this believe me. It will probably release late 2010.

Long Live SHIO!

Malstrom's hatred of the HD consoles should now be pretty obvious to everyone. I mean he didn't even try to come up with a reasonable analysis this time. Instead he simply compares it to Vista which was made by a completely different team and has absolutely nothing to do with this technology. He also ignores the fact that Microsoft announced that development kits were already being sent out to developers.

You do realize that sending out devlopment kits doesn't mean that the hardware will be released this gen, right?  The fact is that if it is unable to be released at a price that the market will accept, that its not going to be bought and will probably cost MS a lot of money to release just to see it flounder.  More likley those dev kits are to get games ready for the next gen console.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

That's right, me and Cliffy are tight. And I'm not just talking about our sexy bods.

It's funny how directly under this article we see one from Malstrom with the title "Microsoft is responding to Sony, not Nintendo". Well if this technology isn't a response to Nintendo (they even made a remark against the Wii during it) then what was it?  Also in that article he states that he thinks Microsoft's avatars were aimed at Sony's Home rather than the Wii's Miis.  Ok imagine that we didn't already know that Rare was working on the avatars even before the Wii came out (Kotaku), does anyone honestly think they were directed at the hardcore audience on Sony's Home rather than the casual audience on the Wii?
