Slimebaest, the reason NATAL gets bashed is a few reasons, first its overpriced for the market, the camera will be over $100 easy, probably $200 according to some sources, then the fact that its limited, since it lacks the pointing capabilities of the Wiimote it won't be usuable in most games, in fact the on screen demonstrations showed more flailing than the Wii. Then its 3 years too late, the conference was littered withthe same themes that Nintendo has been saying since it announced the Wii but suddenly MS acts like its the first to think of it, after bashing the Wii for 3 years. Finally is the MS fanboys who weeks ago were bashing the Wii, but now that they have a gimped version of motion control, its suddenly the greatest thing ever, so you know that the Wii fans have to give them a dose of perspective.

wouldn't waving a remote around be a more "gimped" version of motion control than full body control?

Not if the full body lacks any pointing ability, needed for such things as FPS's

that's not motion control, it's having a pointer.  If all we're talking about is the motion control I can't see how Natal isn't better than the Wiimote on a technical standing.  And you don't even know the capabilities yet, could be possible to point your finger at the screen.  We'll just have to wait and see, but I find it hard to believe that it'll end up being more "gimped" then what is currently out there.

What does Natal mean? You think M$ had some kind of meaning to the name? They did kind of  talk smack about the Wii during their presentation. Could it mean?

LOL.  Why is there a need for FPS games with motion control?  The ones for Wii don't seem to be very popular.  Thus, people with motion control don't really care for them.

At $200, only those who care about FPS'swill ever buy NATAL if it comes out

Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Ah, but just motion controls alone, don't work well in most genres, the pointer ability is needed, and NATAL showed no evidence of having that.  As for motion, well even there, the version shown today was laggy, don't know if that is just because it is prototype or not, but there was a distinct time difference between the actions of the performers, and the on screen avatars.

Wouldn't calling the Natal gesture control be more accurate than calling it motion control? They are completely two different things.

Ohh, and I just remembered what the Sony thing could be. Didn't they patent some kind of robot?

I see it as more different than gimped. It has its flaws just like the Wii mote does, and its strengths as well. What I have trouble with, is how they are going to implement it in where it will have an effect that gamers and/or Microsoft want. The Wiimote supports all game demographics, and game types, while this is limited to the "gimmick" games that 360/PS3 fanboys(not the fans, but the ones that bash other consoles) have been complaining about on Wii. Maybe it won't be limited technologically, but how much support it gets by developers will definitely be limited. It would have been a much much better idea to introduce this in another console cycle. Especially when it would be much cheaper, and easier to implement.

Explain that logic please.

Also, please stop quoting $200.  Perhaps I could pull a number out of my ass as well and post it online.

Sony's mo-cap based capture like Microsoft. They are also working on mind-based games.

Listen...I am Nintendo all the way and I think the technology is very cool as long as everything pans out the way shown, but I couldn't help think the whole time they were presenting. That this is a rip off of Nintendo. First they came up with Avatars aka mii's and now gesture contoling aka wii mote and nunchunk. After all the years of poking and prodding Nintendo and saying they are not in competition with Nintendo blah blah blah. It's just humorous that they keep taking ideas from them. Much like vista stealing from apple. LOL, now all the 360 fans are suddenly in love with motion capture. In the end, very cool product, but I think it's a little too late. IMO
