Slimebaest, the reason NATAL gets bashed is a few reasons, first its overpriced for the market, the camera will be over $100 easy, probably $200 according to some sources, then the fact that its limited, since it lacks the pointing capabilities of the Wiimote it won't be usuable in most games, in fact the on screen demonstrations showed more flailing than the Wii. Then its 3 years too late, the conference was littered withthe same themes that Nintendo has been saying since it announced the Wii but suddenly MS acts like its the first to think of it, after bashing the Wii for 3 years. Finally is the MS fanboys who weeks ago were bashing the Wii, but now that they have a gimped version of motion control, its suddenly the greatest thing ever, so you know that the Wii fans have to give them a dose of perspective.

wouldn't waving a remote around be a more "gimped" version of motion control than full body control?

Not if the full body lacks any pointing ability, needed for such things as FPS's

that's not motion control, it's having a pointer.  If all we're talking about is the motion control I can't see how Natal isn't better than the Wiimote on a technical standing.  And you don't even know the capabilities yet, could be possible to point your finger at the screen.  We'll just have to wait and see, but I find it hard to believe that it'll end up being more "gimped" then what is currently out there.

Ah, but just motion controls alone, don't work well in most genres, the pointer ability is needed, and NATAL showed no evidence of having that.  As for motion, well even there, the version shown today was laggy, don't know if that is just because it is prototype or not, but there was a distinct time difference between the actions of the performers, and the on screen avatars.
