They went for it, to be original, this BLOWS anything the Wii has come up with out of the water. Who know what Microsoft can do with this, they obviously have not unlocked it's true potential yet.

Oh, give me a break. This is not proven to handle a game like Metroid Prime 3 or even Wii Sports (how are you going to handle the button actions?).

Seriously? you gonna go down that road? Did I not, in the post you quoted, say that Microsoft had not unlocked it's true potential? As they work on this, they will find ways to eliminate the need for buttons, thus resulting in completely controllerless play for most games. Will it work well? Who knows. But it far surpasses the Wii, there can be no dispute. Sure the Wii may have sparked this, but then, it may not have. I had a similar idea back in early 2005...and I know I'm not the only one.

How can it far surpass the Wii if it isn't even known to handle some of the most basic games?

The Wii Remote has a lot of functionality. This Microsoft stuff copies some of it, adds some functionality the Wii Remote doesn't have but it also lacks things the Wii Remote has. So forget about your statement, it's simply not true.

How many times must I say this before you fanboys get it into your thick skulls? Microsoft has not perfected this, developed games for it, and has not unlocked it's full potential. Can the Wii do facial and voice recognition, can it do full body motion tracking? Can it alow you to accurately controll an avitar in a game the way Natal can? I think not, therefore your argument is worthless, and mine is full of win.

If anyone has a thick skull here, it's you. I'm not even saying the Wiimote tops this (although I think it does, for most of the available genres).

Feel free to make your own dreams of how much potential will be unlocked or how many things MS will change about this control, but for now you're just making assumptions and comparing apples to oranges.

Sony revealed EyePet last year, and in response MS show us EyePederast.

The thing that has me most excited about the Natal is the hands free UI. It just feels a lot more sophisticated than the same old remote that's been around for years now.

I'm more interested in the 360 as a media box than gaming with that functionality. But being able to play FF13 doesn't hurt either!

I think the Wii remote is still superior.

Firstly, Natal doesn't give the user any haptic or tactile feedback. The great thing about the Wii remote is that you can grasp it to mimic a tennis racket, sword, golf club etc. and receive rumble feedback with impact. Playing Mario Kart with the Wii wheel wasn't flawless because there was no resistance but at least you had something to grasp on.

Secondly, unless I am wrong, you can't have any pointer reticule on screen using Natal. Pointer controls were awesome in games like RE 4, RE: UC, Elebits, Metroid Prime 3, World of Goo.

Lastly, there are no buttons. Unless I like imagination, how in the world are you expect to play a platformer or FPS game using Natal?

I think stuff like this will work great for some games such as a Wario Ware type games and exer-games but it can't touch the Wii remote when it comes to sheer versatility. The Wii remote can be more applicative to different genres of video games than Natal. But I could be wrong.

If you are not saying that the Wii mote tops this, then what are you saying? And what is your point? I am not making dreams or assumptions about NATAL, it's common sense, MS would not bother realeasing it untill they had some decent apps for it, but in the meantime, I present you with this.    http://www.giantbomb.com/xbox-natal-demo/17-719/

Wii remote is still superior, even without M+. With M+, it destroys this. But the camera toy is cute.

@ironman: What I'm saying is very simple. If this is going to be "your body is the controller" with no traditional buttons, analog sticks or triggers (as announced), it's not going to work for many of the genres we play nowadays. Even a simple game like Wii Bowling needs a button to release the ball.

That means your statement that this blows the Wii out of the water is unjustified, certainly not provable yet. At best you can say it surpasses the Wii in some ways, while the Wii wins in other areas (again, going by the available information and leaving assumptions for later).

Ah, you sir, are not thinking about the potential this has, not only for the 360, but other consoles as well.

How can you possibly say you can't have a pointer reticule? That is something that could be implimented into any game for the NATAL system. also, how would you like to reload your gun by a quick hand motion? Or choose a path just by turning slightly? or jumping over things by actually jumping, this could immerse you farther into the game than any controller to date.

Once again...take Mass Effect for example...all those personal interactions can be don't using this feature, rather than just a radial menu...games are about interaction, and this has it serious potential. I'm not talking about the combat sequences, but instead about the NPC interaction...walking around your ship...buying equipment...questioning people...etc. And all sony drone can say is eyetoy...WTF not from the videos I've seen...

A simple opening of the hand, or twitch of the thumb would suffice to release the bowling ball. That would be determined by the game developers of course.
