Fine. You want the easy way or the hard way?

The easy way is the one where I consider different value metrics by which the consoles can be weighed and approach from many diferent angles, including those of the casual player, the returning player, and the Nintendo diehard.

The hard way is the one where I try to justify it according to its hardcore games and only its hardcore games.

I don't necessarily believe either one; I'm just trying to prove the argument can be made.

What!! The Wii has bested the ps2??? No disrespect to the Wii, Im a Wii owner myself but I must the library of games is pretty shocking. At this moment in time I only own 8 games. That is it no other game is good enough for me to purchase and I have been looking but too many mediocre wii titled games that simply do not interest, all those 8 games are the bread and butter of Nintendo e.g. SMG, Metroid Prime3. But to say the Wii has bested the ps2 library is quite frankly ludicrous and dangerous. I await your reply!!

Im ready for round 2!

Whoa, slow down. I'd have preferred to steer clear of a list war, but since one has been started already...

In terms of quality SRPGs, the PS2 has: Disgaea 1, Disgaea 2, La Pucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave, Eternal Poison, Stella Deus, Gladius, Makai Kingdom, Growslanser, Arc the Lad: TotS, Soul Nomad, Suikoden Tactics and I'm sure I've missed a few more. That's a stellar amount of quality SRPGs.

I thought there were plenty more quality ARPGs than just KH I and II and Baldur's Gate. Dark Cloud 1 and, especially, 2 were great, Champions of Norrath was an awesome multiplayer dungeon crawl, SO3 was good for the most part, X-Men Legends I and II, Ys: Ark of Napishtism, The Bard's Tale and .Hack 1 - 4 (Haven't played but have heard good things).

As I mentioned eariler, not to take away anything from the DS, as its RPG lineup is amazing, but I don't think it's quite up to snuff with the PS2.

I'm glad you mentioned Valkyrie Profile. I've been meaning to get it for a while, I think I may trade in Cross Edge to get it.

 

dood, VP is a must have, definitely get it. I never did like Hack too much, one of the few where I didn't like the story at all, but there are a good amount of cults who love it. for me personally, I already think DS is better than PS2 because I can take it anywhere I go with the amazing games lol, and there are so many good games that never made it into the NA or PAL regions which is a real shame.

Dissidia, Agito, Birth by sleep, crisis core, jean of arc, persona psp , tactics, tales, etc etc

dood, there are actually more main series on the DS ^^;;; one weakness of the PSP is that it has a lot of the direct ports that most people who'd have a PSP already have played before(PS1 games and some PS2.) I won't argue that there are almost just as many quality games worth owning in the higher score category(about 90+ rating) but once you get into the 80s, the number difference gets pretty huge.

Joke thread...Wii will probably end up having having one of the worst library of games, ever. Though that depends on who you ask. According to diehard nintendo fanboys, the wii even trumps the ps2, LOL. Luckily I'm not the only one who sees the lunacy in that idea...
