Because this isn't some random magazine, this is a very serious japanese newspaper with lots of stock tips and such. A mistake like this would be very damning for them, I'd think.

Seriously, Nintendo and Sony are businesses.  They keep making the same games because people keep buying them...  Additionally, in the last five years, Nintendo has had more new IP and taken more risk than any other company.  The reason why this "doesn't count" is because it's not games the "hardcore*" like.

*hardcore meaning that the game has to be rated M for it to be considered... the "hardcore" gamer will put up with having to make his mom buy it; this is just the price to pay if you want to be mature.

Nikkei was right about the DSi but I still wouldn't say confirmed until Nintendo says it.

This and they also confirmed a new DS with cameras and no GBA slot 2 days before Nintendo's conference. This is also coming just 2 days before E3.

I was hoping for a Wii Zelda but atleast there is a core game announced.
