This makes absolutly no sense. If the game was overhyped , it would have dropped off the charts regardless of sales but no because its such a fantastic game it is still being played online enough to warrent no.1 on the charts.

Seriously if you actually believe that halo 3 is over-hyped , then you believe that the ps3 has no games because they are both 2007 arguments and both are at the same level of stupidity.

Not necessarily. It could be a critical disappointment but still sufficiently popular among the mainstream in order to sustain strong Live activity.

But I've played both, and found Halo 3 much more enjoyable (imo of course).  And sales + reviews prove this as well.  Please, (and this goes to everyone), get off this Halo-hate bandwagon fad, it's pretty old now.

And it's funny how this pretty much turned into an MS vs Sony thread just because some Sony fanboys had to speak out in a thread that pretty much did not concern them.  Truly sad >.<.

I think taking Halo 4 in a new direction would be great for the series... Halo 3's campaign didn't add too much from the first 2 in terms of gameplay, but the multiplayer kicked ass with the Forge editor and all, which is why it's still the top played game on XBL right behind COD4 and W@W.

For me Gears 2 was the opposite... loved the campaign, but was sorely disappointed in the multiplayer, except for Horde.... my friends and I pulled an all-nighter completing all 50 waves, that was good times!

Well after wading through the portions of this thread that were hijacked by people with an obvious mission in mind (destroy anything 360 and Microsoft). I say, GET A FREAKING LIFE AND QUIT TROLLING! Now, back to the ORIGIONAL topic. Halo 4, I am a little apprehensive because Bungie itself is not working on the game, However, they are overseeing it, and some of the guys from Bungie stayed on with Microsoft. So it could be good. As long as it adds to the story line. I suggest you all go out and get the halo books, they tell so much of the story that the game could not.
Also, read the Mass Effect book. I was not interested in the game, but after reading the book, I decided to play the game, so far, so good. The story line is pretty good.
As for Gears of War 3...I can hardly wait!

Halo 4 is not a Rumor....Even if it is not called Halo 4 It would be the fourth Halo FPS game(if its FPS)
