Forums - Nintendo - A question for Metroid Lovers

I was reading about the Metroid Prime Trilogy release for Wii, and I'm seriously thinking about buying it. I have one big question before I commit to it though.

Does the Metroid Prime Trilogy play the same as Metroid prime Hunters? I ask this because I couldn't stand that game, and if MP is the same style, then I'll probably just ignore it. How are they similar, and how are they the same?

Thanks.

It's like 18 billion times better than Hunters. They shouldn't even be considered in the same series. MPH is a mediocre straightforward shooter that makes liberal use of the Metroid universe.

Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 are beautiful games that take everything that was awesome about the 2d Metroids and translates them in breathtaking 3d counterparts. Every gamer should at least play Metroid Prime 1. The focus is on exploration and atmosphere; getting new powers, stuff like that. Not like lame straightforward Hunters.

Not even close. The Metroid Prime series keeps the adventuring aspects of the games. Hunters was the only FPS in the series imo, and while it was an ok game it wasn't a metroid game to me. So definitely try the Prime series out.

MP hunters is to Metroid as Terminator 3 is to T1&2

It never happened.

Prime series should not even be mentioned in the same breath.

The answer to your question is no. Hunters is much more twitch-based and shooter-y. Metroid Prime is in a league of its own.

No, Metroid Prime Hunters was more focused on shooting than exploring. This differs with the Metroid Prime home console games where there is good bit of action but exploration plays a very big part in the game. This is why it is classified as a first person adventure rather than a first person shooter. By the way, there are also a lot of puzzles to solve in the game and hidden items.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I'd pay 50$ for each of the three games separately.

And this is 50$ for all three together.

You should definitely buy it, it's an amazing package.

If you're still doubtful, you could always find a cheap used copy of MP1 and try it out. I've seen it go for less than $10. Then you'll find out if Metroid Prime's exploration, bosses, and suit upgrades are for you, though you'll probably wish you could play with a pointer. ;)

MPH is an attempt (relatively successful by standards of portables) to make an online-driven FPS. MPH single player compared to MP Trilogy games is rather weak. I can't stand MPH either, I wouldn't call it true Metroid experience, don't judge series by MPH.

The Prime trilogy is a lot better than Metroid Prime Hunters. The trilogy plays much better.
