No, Metroid Prime Hunters was more focused on shooting than exploring. This differs with the Metroid Prime home console games where there is good bit of action but exploration plays a very big part in the game. This is why it is classified as a first person adventure rather than a first person shooter. By the way, there are also a lot of puzzles to solve in the game and hidden items.
