Mass Effect 2 won't do over a million first week, and FFXIII will easily crack a million first week in Japan. I predict 1.6 - 1.9 million first week in Japan for FFXIII, and thats not just a random number, I crunched the numbers and made a thread about how I got them :)

Don't under estimate the power of Final Fantasy in Japan.

I'm not underestimating Final Fantasy in Japan. I'm noting that Japan will not crack over 1/3 of the PS3 installed base in Japan within a week.

FF7 , FF10 did why not FF13?.

Mass Effect didn't barely make 2, it went over 2 million. Anyway, after E3 the new Mass Effect will be aired out in a big way to the people, kind of like how people are taking notice to Uncharted. You don't have to take my word for it, but Mass Effect 2 will sell way better than the first, which no one knew about. Mass Effect is a name now.

Mass Effect sold 2.06 million. 60 copies over 2 million is barely over 2 million.

Mass Effect 2 will sell better than the original, as will Uncharted 2, but neither of them is going to do it by a massive amount. I predict 3 million for Uncharted 2 and 2.8 million (at most) for Mass Effect 2.

That's 60,000 copies, not 60.

But I agree, it's slim.  It could be even less as this time the game is launching simultaneously with the PC version.

Uncharted could do more or less as well.  It will have a bigger userbase and more hype, but may receive less bundling.

^ This speaks the truth. Mass Effect was amazingly awesome, but It's sequal will stand no chance against the juggernaut that is FF13.

Because they have 3.22 million PS3 owners in Japan alone. That isn't enough. I'm not saying the game wont sell well in Japan; it will, but the game wont break a million in the first or second week. The FFXIII game being exclusive in Japan to PS3 with Versus behind it, is incentive for more people to pick up PS3's. In essence, you see, it will cause a steady increase in PS3 sales, almost to the effect of what MGS4 did, but not quite as well as MGS4.

Actually Mass Effect sold roughly 2.3 Million...not 2.06.

Put it this way.  Mass Effect has an aggregate score of 91, whereas each of the last two main story FF's got a 92.  The one before that got an 85.

Mass Effect had MASSIVE technical issues and STILL got that awesome score.  It is quite possible there will be an upset.


   Do you honestly believe that 1 or 2 points of metascore somehow support your position? Really?

11.  Though to be fair, it probably shouldn't count. 

Nine got 94 which was impressive, but the last two have got 92, which is smack bang next to Mass Effect.  But Mass Effect had technical issues, they didn't.

If Halo 3 can manage to pull out great yearly sales after 4th quarter ever year, Gears 2 can as well. I didn't even think that Gears 2 would make it to 5 million copies sold, but it did, so there you go.
